Li Yun's basic skills, her foundation is weak for a CHN player, notwithstanding she's only 18 years old. Her defence of smashes falls short, her lifts not finding good lengths, her net play wanting. No doubt she is very positive and pumped up, but,my goodness, she's another screamer like Marin. The first time I watch Li Yun play was against Pai Yu Po, can't remember which tournament - on that occasion, she was attacking all the way, recklessly, prematurely, the score was decent enough despite the loss. But I remember she wasn't doing any of those screams, shrieks, yells, roars, nor celebrating every point won in such an over-the-top manner.
It turned out that Li Yun actually disposed of the top seed, Rong Shafer, in a three-setter, 23-21, 14-21, 21-18, in 1 hr 19 mins; no wonder she's thrilled.
Even these two WS now playing, Fabiana and Akvile, are yelling now and then, and it sounds really loud on youtube even though my volume is set at below 20%. Perhaps it's something to do with the transmission over youtube.
I thought you're referring to livescore, there's none. But if it's the ongoing match on Ct 1 as shown on youtube, you can see it on the top left-hand side where the scoreboard is, 8-11 in G2.
I just realized that the court hasn't been mopped, like ever-- are they playing in some Brazilian highland where the humidity is 0%? I mean, the players are clearly sweating, towelling off and even changing shirts-- but no moisture seems to get onto or stay on the court... because nobody is diving to make retrievals? Anyway, kudos to the umpire for warning both players to stop walking round and round the court before serving-- I'm sure he knows who everyone is waiting for...
During the Li Yun match earlier, I did see her asking for the court to be mopped and a guy came with a piece of cloth, no mop. I guess, budget is tight, things will be much better at the Olympics.
Did you see any challenges resolved by Hawkeye? I haven't seen any and the umpire just warned a player not to make faces/complain to the line judges... Are they not using Hawkeye for the Olympics, or is it just not ready for the group stages?
This is only a GP, not even a Superseries, I supposed there's no requirement or budget for Hawk-Eye. For the Olympics, certainly, there will be Hawk-Eye, I believe.
