Ok just checked it: Ko Shin are qualified if Hashimot/Hirata lose (what looks like atm). Fu Zhang could play if they sacrifice Chai/Hong or Liu/Qui what they won´t do I believe.
That's because Vita/Shendy and Pia/Rizki all turned professional and no longer in Pelatnas (the centralized training camp). So, there's nothing much Eng Hian (the chief WD coach in Pelatnas) can do about them. Even as a professional player, Vita Marissa has won quite a number of GPG titles in WD for the past 2 years. Partnering Variella Aprilsasi, she won 1 GPG title in the Australian Open last year, and this year she won 2 GPG titles in US Open and the Indonesia Masters with Shendy Puspa Irawati. There's a lot of mixing and matching being involved for all the other WD pairs in Pelatnas though, although there's no stand-out pair at the moment yet. Anggia/Della have more or less been split up since the World Championships 2014, despite their higher ranking. Della has been playing with Gebby, while Anggia is being paired with Gloria. Della/Gebby won an IC title in Bulgaria and reached the SF of the Dutch Open GP. Anggia/Gloria are so far pretty mediocre. The other which probably deserve a mention is Rosyita/Maretha, having won the Vietnam Open GP a few months ago. Suci/Tiara are so inconsistent lately that they will probably face the axe too soon, with 3 first-round exits including this week's HKG Open SS result.
Anyone following the LDK vs JoJ match? Please post updates if possible. Looks like LDK got the first game 23-21. Edit: Live scoreboard working on Tournament Software live score viewer
Yamaguchi just too good. Top 10 anyone? She's currently world no. 18. Who said I was insane to predict she'd finish top 10 by the end of this year? Hehe. Hate to say it, but told you so!
Well I don't think she will finish the year in the top10 but yes her performance has been very very good.
Give her another 6 months. If she keeps it's up, she'll be close to world number 1. She's played all the top Chinese and have either beaten them before or taken a set off them. And she's still improving. Watch out! Not sure how many points she has to defend this HK Open? If she wins it, she may be close to top 10?
Akane currently has 40905 points. At WR10 is Sindhu with 57405 points. If she can win HK SS she will have a net gain of 8680 points and be in the 12-15 range (too lazy to do the actual addition and subtraction for the other players).
