i think an athlete should play as long as they want to, but, they should at least be realistic about their public declarations. i read an article awhile back saina saying she wants to play as long as she can because she loves playing, so why not keep going? hell, i would too. but, if she were to keep saying she believes she can be world champ/og gold medalist/top 10 all i can do is chuckle.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/effectiveness/work.html From the site above: COVID-19 Vaccines Protect Against COVID-19 Infections and Hospitalizations Vaccines reduce the risk of COVID-19, including the risk of severe illness and death among people who are fully vaccinated. In addition to data from clinical trials, evidence from real-world vaccine effectiveness studies show that COVID-19 vaccines help protect against COVID-19 infections, with or without symptoms (asymptomatic infections). Vaccine effectiveness against hospitalizations has remained relatively high over time, although it tends to be slightly lower for older adults and for people with weakened immune systems.
thankyou for posting that. it is quite surprising how even given the amount of media coverage, worldwide, people still do not understand why we have the vaccine.
Pretty sure Lauren Lam is a fan of the GOAT. She's a lefty, uses Voltric LD Force (the black red one), preps herself before receiving serves a la LD, and she prefers to play cross-court smashes from her deep forehand given the opportunities. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Malvika who defeated Saina yesterday herself gets beaten by another Indian, Aakarshi Kashyap. To replace Saina, the other girls have to rise above the rest. I have high hopes from Tasnim Mir, don't know why she didn't play in this tournament.
Why do you wanna go every tournament if you can’t get past R1? The resources spent on her can diverted to an upcoming talent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NEWS Queen Of Majors Pusarla V Sindhu has yet again waived the flag of Badminton in the international Media by becoming the only Female Badminton player to be featured in the Forbes top 10 List of Richest Female Athletes coming at 7th position with a total earning of 7.2 Million USD in 2021. Pusarla was featured in this same list of top 10 back in 2018 too and as an ardent badminton fan of hers Im proud that she is the flag bearer of Woman Empowerment not only in India but across the globe and because of such laurels young girls can dream to take up badminton as a sport as it offers a great financial value. Here is the complete list -: https://www.forbes.com/sites/brettk...s-score-a-record-167-million/?sh=fec4b0b78cc1
Tasnim didn't have enough ranking. It's quite sad because if she could have played, she could have got precious ranking points and play more bigger tournaments. She recently became junior WR 1. And she said she will play two tournaments in February.
I mean the reserves she now has doesn’t align with the results she produces. As simple as that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Its unfair to boot out one of the pioneers (and still one of the better) Indian badminton while continuing to give patronage to some token doubles players who have never won any notable match (much less any major or minor tournament). Despite her poor performance, Saina still is Indian number 2 and inside top 32 rank, so other girls have to simply pick up their game and improve their rankings, which notably no one could do apart from Sindhu. I remember Saina did everything earlier on without much backing or resources. During 2007-2008 she was competing without a coach in major tournaments and even beating top Chinese players (She beat Zhu Lin in China Masters in 2008 without any coach). I remember she used to compete in doubles also with Canadian Anna Rice during those time. So with much better financial backing given to the new shutters, someone should be able to fill her spot. Realistically, her rankings will drop, and eventually she wont able to register in SS level tournaments, but it's praiseworthy still that players like her and Yip Pui Yin are still their enjoying their sport, despite not winning much.
