SYQ's repeated attacks repelled while his smashes mostly returned by Ygor who is running all over the court.

    G1 goes to Ygor, 21-16

SYQ making unforced errors from G1, carrying over to G2

SYQ is going to lose if he doesn't put more heart into the match

I'm sure Ygor sensed this is a rare chance to catch SYQ off-guard

Playing with a bit more urgency in the second half of G2, 21-15, SYQ levelled up to force the decider

SYQ given out at the backline when it looked well in , to me

Even Sung Ji Hyun isn't exactly overpowering Britney Tam

SYQ wraps it up 21-11, in G3, playing a bit more seriously to spurt to the finishing line though occasionally he appeared a little lackadaisical to me, esp obvious in the first two games.

Before the start of the tournament, a Chinese reporter posed the question, ' Will it be another R1 exit for Lin Dan ? '

Now, we ask, ' Lin Dan to exit in R2 ? '

Lin Dan's smashes lack firepower, and he's somewhat slow to get behind the shuttle at the backline more often than not.

Once Lin Dan loses g1, it's over for him; no point , for me, to watch further.

Hmm...if Lin Dan has the stamina to keep doing this, filigree technique to drain and frustrate his not that much younger but definitely fitter opponent, he might just get past him.

    Let's watch G2.

Not too bad, Lin Dan playing multiple rallies with good accuracy, so far so good.

Lin Dan still lifting and clearing too much, often predictably and punished now and then.

21-19 and 21-17, Lin Dan is through to the QFs. Today he plays like a higher version of Lee Hyun Il, I'm sure Lee Dong Keun didn't see it coming.

    Goodnight, folks.

    Ahsan/Hendra to the next round.
This time not as smooth as last time. Took them 3 games to win.

Glad to see LD won too,
Oh.. he's playing Ginting tomorrow though.

Who is Subhankar Dey? Is he the same guy who defeated Lin Dan once?
