..hmm, the coaches/mgt are still praying and hoping Fuzzy will get back their 2008 form, when they won back-to-back SS tourneys, the 2008 S'pore Open & Indonesia Open..

I think they will meet Hoon Thien How and Ong Soon Hock first. The crowd will be totally behind them, it is the acid test for Hoon and Ong to prove that they are decent players. The second test will probably be against Fairuz/Zakry in the finals but of course Fairuz/Zakry and Hoon/Ong can fail to make it to the finals.

Fairuzizuan and Zakry in their first final after two years

“Their matches thus far have been against less formidable opponents as the top pairs have opted out of this tournament,” said Rosman in telephone interview from Chennai.

“But I am happy that they have performed to expectations as the top seeds. I hope they will win the title to show us that they still have the competitive edge in them.”

I still don't think they deserve any place in the Asian Games even if they beat Thomas/Kumar today.

Wait... in the NST news, they put WMC won 2008 China Open? Not 2007 meh?

Yesterday's semi final match against the singaporean pair was a walk in a park for them;)..

even like that, i stil can see quite a lot of silly mistakes and weaknesses in this pair though;)..

Congratulations to the new winners of the India Open Grand Prix!
But, I still don't think they should be chosen for the Asian Games. Besides, I think Hoon/Zakry makes a better pair than Hoon/Ong. Hoon/Ong too slow.

Firstly, congrats to the much maligned Fuzzy pair. I hope their victory in the India GP is not a false dawn. With tougher opposition in the upcoming SIN and INA SS, they will be hard pressed to win. I think making the QF or SF would be a victory of sorts in itself.

    Fairuzizuan-Zakry end three-year title drought

“It gives us great joy to win a title after so long.
“It feels as though a big burden had been lifted off our shoulders,” said Zakry in a telephone interview
“Our confidence was crushed so badly after our failure to win titles, big or small, over the last few years.
“We hope that the victory here will give us the confidence we need to rebuild our careers,” said Zakry.

Badminton: Zakry-Faizruzizuan end drought in India

"It is good that they have lived up to their top billing. They should build upon this victory and aim higher," said Rosman, who also confirmed that the pair will not be split for the time being.

Ha, you should know BAM are spending all their $$ on damage control following the TC/UC fiasco. Either that or frittering away their kitty on worthless programs or padding their own bank accounts. Sending players to tournaments? God forbid!
