It takes 7 years about to get a US citizenship. Last report from USAB says they estimate August of 2019.

Nowadays There are many competing countries for signing such talents.......like holland, Germany, France, Belgium having Chinese immigrants in ping pong, badminton......I think Spain will take a serious look at Zhang (and chinese players), they would not want to waste Marin's prime .....

So many people want Zhang to move elsewhere! :(

"Throw us a bone" -- as the saying goes -- and let BWZ stay in North America and help grow the sport in this badminton hinterland.

You need to be a US Citizen to play the Trials for the Pan Am Team Event.

The story behind her participation at the recently concluded 2018 BWF World Championships in Nanjing, China:
    https://www.scmp.com/sport/hong-kon...-star-zhang-beiwen-crowdfunding-her-way-world

    Summary:

Through the fundraising platform GoFundMe, Zhang has now raised US$6,700 for her World Championships trip, far beyond her target of US$5,500.

I want to give a big thank you to all my supporters! I was very nervous before starting this campaign because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out but you guys have given me even more motivation to keep pushing towards my goal. I can’t believe you made my goal within six days,” said Zhang on the fundraising platform after meeting her target.

And thanks to the support of badminton fans worldwide, it took the women’s singles world number 12 less than a week to secure more than enough financial support to make her trip possible.

That is great news that Beiwen is now a US citizen. Now she can represent USA at the Tokyo Olympics!

Sad to see Beiwen injured when she was in a favourable position to secure a spot in the Olympic quarterfinals.

Based on a video by Woesi seems to be an achilles rupture. If it is not sure if she'll be able to make a return to international competition considering she's 31 now and doesn't have the same resources as other nations (rehab, physio, etc).

Career ending moment. Reminds me a lot of Son Wan Ho which never fully recovered to be able to play at his highest level again. Thus, the heartbreaking reaction of ZB... And she was doing really well!
