Hey guys, my stringer says he heard rumours that our great Zhao Jian Hua settles down in Singapore and sells chicken rice in the Sing Ming and Thomson area. Any opinions or infomation about this?
actually, i heard the news that Zhao Jian Hua regularly play badminton @ singapore swimming club. But not too sure whether that issue is true. and also not too sure whether he sells chicken rice
yeah. i can confirm this. i've eaten their before. zhao jian hua doesnt literally sell there. he owns the restaurant with another ex-national player, patrick lau if i am not wrong. the chickren rice is not bad. worth a try.
hmmm, why not eh? i've always wondered what ex-national players do when they retire, not all of them become coaches, so they must have something to fall back on. i'm sure not all of them would have earned enough during their playing years to retire comfortably, considering the poor prize money on offer.
can you give me the address of the restaurant? wanting to try the chicken rice, maybe it tastes like geese instead lol
From the limited sources I have, many of them indeed work for jobs closely to the sports, such as coaching (not necessary national team level), dealership, sport club, etc. Overall, sports are the things that they are good at. It's much easier for them to continue that, with all the knowledge and connections that they had before. Of course, if they get the chance to jump the boat into another industry which give them considerable profit, they are more than willing to try.
All the above has been discussed before as LB has mentioned (actually 4 years ago) here: http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=8002&highlight=zhao+jian+hua+chicken+rice
