Not that 27 years old is past ZSW's prime, but having read more commentaries on this, it makes sense financially to transition towards individual sponsorship / endorsement deals. In an interview with Lin Dan (see video link below), it was stated that national players only get a base salary from the province (not from the national team). Additionally, a player only retains 40% of prize money, with 60% going to the national sporting body.
