LYD likes light and fast rackets Bravesword 12 is the perfect example and what he is using at the moment over his signature racket. It's very light, but slightly heavy and will give him the speed he needs for quick interceptions
Will heavy rackets work against a player in terms of defensive capabilities? I recall reading an interview with Ko earlier this year where he mentioned he prefers rackets with heavy heads cause he's got more strength. I'm assuming the heavy rackets help in attacking (if you are already a hard hitter), but not so for defending I guess? Im a noob with rackets ><
he used bs12 because he is pairing with koo.s.hyun right now..a lighter and faster racket will do better for him unlike those old times where he can just thunder those shuttle down while jjs take care of the rear part...maybe its time for a different racket to perform when it comes to different style of playing....
watch more of their game and u will understand =) . its totally a different style of playing if u compare the games when lyd pairs with jjs and when he pairs with koo.s.hyun....
This is surely one of their best game played together as a pair enjoy it
One of the most entertaining matches. And you can see Koo/Tan enjoyed the match as well. They really fought to win it (well, they lost). If they would have the same attitude every tournament we would see more of these encounters. Unfortunatly only Ko/Lee are doing well. Btw amazing performance the last two weeks for LYD and especially KSH who won both MD and MX Asia Championships and reaches the SF of the Indian Open in both disciplines this week already. Once more I have to admit these two are my favourite players / idols!!
I assume Ko got put in MX to get more experience and to up his tactical game. I hope we can see the fruits of his labours soon ^^
sigh I say it before and I am saying it again, Ko is the weak link and it's proven again in the India Open Final, they just target him on pushes and smashes and he just kept making mistakes ! Come on Korea get a better partner for LYD
TBH LYD made his fair share of mistakes. They were unlucky. How long were LYD and JJS together before they started winning finals?
I am not talking about tactics, this is skills deficit, not being good with drives and defence? if tactics it is easy to be corrected, but skills is something that you either have it or you don't. Just like booming smashes, if you are already in your 20s and you still cant do power jump smash, you never will in your whole life. Of course, I can't guarantee that Ko won't improve. But what are the chances ?
Who knows but they have improved. Ko's decision making is getting better and LYD is pulling his socks up. Both aren't used to playing to fast flat game so this is an area where they can improve. Also their positioning was wrong on some points so this is another area where they can improve. The Chinese pair have just won the AE and put out Mo/Bo in the quarters. They could be the next big thing but Ko/Lee held them and were beating them until they wobbled and let them in.
You're talking BS. Who the hell should they partner LYD with, then? In the current squad there isn't anyone better suited to him. None of the others are better than Ko in drive defense. They also keep beating their team mates with absolute ease, so unless they can somehow get Fu Haifeng to play with LYD you're up for a couple hard months as they won't change that partnership.
Lol LYD at this point has become such a celebrity that some think he can't do any wrong! KSR is actually pretty good and super fast and he did temporarily partner with LYD last year. He's actually performing better this year!
Except that KSR's mentality is poor. He hangs his head and loses games easily even when he's ahead. It's rare to see him come from behind to win, and his great play is difficult to unlock for more than half a set ... Yes he's got potential, but there's a lot lacking at the moment.
