Just read that badmintonlegend Finn Kobberø died today - the 21st of January 2009. He was 72 years old. I am too young to have seen him play, but I have the utmost respect for his achievements. 23 finals in All England from 1954 to 1966 - 15 of which he won. Profile on Wikipedia May he rest in peace...
That's eerie... his name just got mentioned in another thread yesterday and now he's no longer with us... Rest in peace.
His achievement is so outstanding, won 15 AE titles (7 MD + 8 XD), wow hard to break his record... RIP

What can we say?... That's an achievement not likely to be emulated. Some BCers might have seen him played. We would like to know some stories of how he played. One of Kobbero's greatest rival and also friend is Malaysia's Eddy Choong. I believe Eddy had a son named after Finn Kobbero, naming him Finn Choong. In the 1950s Finn Kobbero was regarded by Malaysians of that era to be Denmark's greatest badminton player with superb skills.
wonder why i never knew of such an awesome achiever. deepest condolences to his family. his descendents and the rest of the badminton world musn't forget his feat!
