How many times would you need to replace the grip of the racquet? I've just been extremely fussy about the grip circumference of one racquet. Needed to redo it 4 times. Is that being too fussy or indecisive?
I guess I'm just as neurotic, I tried everything from -1 grip singlewrapped on the wood+1 grip double-wrapped. -1 grip singlewrapped on the wood + 1 grip single-wrapped -1 grip doubleswrapped on the wood -a round of athletic tape on the wood (wrapped like a grip) and a single-wrapped grip on that, which is my current favorite.
I change my overgrip once every 6-9 months and no need to redo. Not fussy with grip as long as it's thin and not slippery. The more important to me is the feel of the edges on the handle.
I think Cheung means unwrapping and re-wrapping the same grip multiple times, in which case I've only ever done this twice (but for many re-gripping procedures); four is excessive even for my crippling OCD...
It's common knowledge that Cheung has used the same racket for many years. For it to feel right in his hand, it only makes sense that the grip has to be just like it was before. He needed to re-do the grip until familiarity (not perfection) was acheived. Therefore Cheung does not meet the criteria for OCD...... he's just a creature of habit.
