Hello,
I do not play Badminton with a club or anything, I was just playing with some friends in our garden. We played for a total of about 2 weeks (few games a day) last summer.
I was playing then started to get this pain in my lower back, felt like a sharp muscle pain, continued to play as the pain wasn't bad, after 5 mins I decided to sit down as the pain started to worsen. After about 10 minutes of sitting down I couldn't stand up straight nor walk, the pain was unbearable. If I remember correctly it was on the right side of my lower back, I couldn't put any weight on my right side as it would hurt too much.
I was bed ridden for about a week then it started to ease off. After 2 weeks I was back to normal (not playing Badminton). From then on something has never felt right with my back, always a bit uncomfortable.
Anyway, this summer my acute pain came back randomly, got out the car and felt a pain, after 10 mins I was in bed again, perhaps not as bad as the first time but still put me to bed. My girlfriend noticed that the muscles on the right side of my spine were locked up, the pain would ease up after a good massage.
After 3 days of this I went to the doctor who said it seems like muscle spasms, gave me some anti inflammatory tablets and the pain was gone 2 days after taking them.
Now my back always feels uncomfortable, when I sit down I have to have something supporting my back as I end up with a sharp pain in my lower back which usually goes after a minute or so of trying to stand up straight. It's usually worse in the mornings and eases off as I move around. Lying flat on my back helps a lot.
I'm looking for any type of advice, has anyone else suffered from this? The main thing I'm worried about is the constant uncomfort in my lower back.
I'm generally quite fit, I'm 23 years old. I'm a ski instructor in the winter and run a campsite in the summer so a lot of walking around. When I'm busy and haven't sat down in a while the uncomfort almost goes.
Does this sound a muscle problem? Could anyone recommend any excerise a if so...
Thanks
