Ah, great way to put it, so I'm guessing this will be a more powefull string thatn BG80 if it lasted?
Great, next time i go to get my racket restrung, I'll try out this string. but hopefully, the "ummmfh" of the string will last longer than 30 mins.
it seems that this string isn't terribly durable. my first ones broke in about a month with about 24 lbs tension. strangly, mine broke on the sides (and always have). i think i pick up the birdie with the racquet too much.
in my opinion BG 80 is only long lasting string with good repulsion. For me it seems to last longer then BG 65 or 65 ti which i broke in 3 months of 2-3 +(more during school season) hrs per week. 80 is currently going into it's 4th month and just started to tear up not counting chunks missing from the string from the miss hits. now NBG 95 which i never strung on my racquet but tried on my friends' was quite nice with more power but didn't see it break yet
TwoBeer: this should not happen. I'm thinking bad batch or fake or just a freak of nature. What I have found, NBG95 characteristics: +Powerful +Good to very good durability -Has a hollow feel, numb feel -Doesn't grip the shuttle too well -Tension holding is so-so, need to pre-stretch the string -Pricey and availability
Agree with your statement, Sir Dink. NBG-95 is definitely good in durability but the feel is some how "quite weird". Not natural at all. I recently collect my so called "defect" 9000X after I have sent it to claim a new one but failed. I strung it with NBG-95, 26lbs since last year November and until today the string still hold the tension well.
It was bought from a very reputable japaneese Yonex dealer, so I cannot beleive it would be a fake. It fellt hollow and numb after 30 minutes.. but the first minutes of play it felt very responsive and controllable.. Maybe its my super-hard slices are wearing it down /T
If that's the case, then I believe through shipping/extreme weather change, the string may have been altered. Or like you said, you just sliced super hard.
It's hard to discern, relative and splitting hairs, but I believe BG66 to be more powerful. If you want a durable, power string, NBG95 is a good choice. Just don't expect too much finesse and control.
haha.. Sir Slicealot have a nice ring to it reminds me btw of the woman "Ivana Humpalot" in the movie Austin Powers /T
I find BG66 SHARP maybe little more powerful, never used BG66.. BG66 sharp isn't very durable... (but on the other hand maybe NBG95 doesn't seem to have a long lifespan for me neither).. /T
