I know for badminton shoe we need to get non marking type. But what is non marking shoe? and what is marking shoe?
Most court shoes (for badminton, volleyball, squash, indoor tennis) are non-marking shoes. They usually have flesh coloured soles that do not leave a mark on the floor when you drag the shoe. Places that have matted badminton courts usually require non-marking shoes because they don't want their mats to get dirty. Outdoor or running shoes usually have dark coloured soles and will leave a mark on a matted floor.
To check, the colour of the soles are usually the first way to check. Light brown/brown (most of the time) means non-marking shoes. Also, try on the shoes and u would find that it has this "stick-on/rubbery" feeling while u walk. That is a non marking shoe suitable for badminton since it provides the necessary grip during play.
