    Congratulations to Sindhu.
But she can actually be a world beater with her fighting spirit. Many aspects of her game still need fine tuning. That jump smash is useless. She bleeds points by losing focus. Her shot selection needs to improve. etc etc.
I should be appointed her coach. hehe

Yes, she should not jump smash on the first shot. That's wasted energy.

Some tuning is good for her. She will win more big tournaments for sure. ;)

Jump smash is in her blood, both her parents are ex-national volleyball players.

Sindhu's broken racquet string and grip.

    The grip is really smooth.

She's definitely a monocolour fashion sort of person.

I was abuot to take a picture of the whole racquet and she dumped her towel on it!

I remember I criticized Sindhu's dismal post-Olympics performance and compared her to Saina when she won Denmark Open and reached the Finals of French Open. I'm happy that she proved my criticism wrong with her performance. I hope she perform consistently well. Great year for her. She also became, for the first time, the highest ranked WS player from India.

did it comfortably. next stop the "tall" wall of China or the Korean leading lady, would be a tough task. But if she plays her natural game with positivity like she did today, there's nothing that can stop the debutant to march in the finale.

Edit: draws are out, Its PVS vs SJH. I think both of 'em have pretty good chances judging by h2h

Indian badminton star awarded plot of land after Rio 2016 silver medal

Indian badminton star Pusarla Sindhu has been awarded 1,000 square yards of land after winning an Olympic silver medal at Rio 2016.

The land was granted by the Telangana Government as they looked to show their appreciation to Sindhu for her achievement in Brazil in August.

Sindhu reached the final of the women’s singles competition in Rio de Janeiro, where she faced the challenge of Spain’s Carolina Marin.

The 21-year-old won the first game of the contest 21-19 but could not prevent her rival from battling back to win the remaining games 21-12, 21-15 to take the gold medal.

Sindhu still made history by becoming the first Indian woman to earn an Olympic silver medal.

The land awarded to Sindhu is located in the Shaikpet village of the Hyderabad district, with two plots combined.

"The Government [of Telangana], after careful examination, hereby accepts the proposal of the district collector, Hyderabad that two adjacent plots in Shaikpet village can be combined to carve out a 1,000 square yards plot to allot the same to Miss P V Sindhu, badminton player, for having won a silver medal in Rio Olympics, as a part of Government incentive," the order said.

The land provided to the badminton star will allow her to build a house on the site.

It is not the first time the State Government has sought to recognise Sindhu’s accomplishment after they gave her a cash gift last year.

The award was believed to be around 50 million rupees (£595,000/$730,000/€704,000).

Sindhu is currently competing in her home country as part of the Premier Badminton League

Great match against SJH today, revenge of Dubai SSF SF, Sung did manage to crawl back after she neutralized 2MPs in g2, but a careless service error followed by great resistance by the reseliant Indian star was too much to handle for.

Tomorrow she'll be up against SN, she has never beaten her but tomorrow will be a whole diff story IMO, SN still not at her best after unfortunate knee surgery OTOH the Silver OG medalist is in great form. Hope for a thrilling contest
