From today's newspaper (SCMP 10 March 2005)
Li Yong Bo ruled out setting up of a pro league until after 2008. Although the idea is not bad, there were lot of complicated issues.
1. China's priority is Olympics 2008 - a pro league would not help their preparation.
2. If a pro league meant releasing players for 3-4 months of the year to their clubs, there's no guarantee players would receive the same level of training. This would affect their performance when playing for the national squad.
