    which rib?

Is it Rib 10? i.e. the lowest false rib. So, not the floating ribs? (So, not ribs 11 or 12) (Even though ribs 11 and 12 are lower than rib 10)

would anybody consider their statement about lowest rib to be rib 12? (which is technically lower than rib 10)

The general practice is to consider the bootom rib to be where the bottom of a bent elbow is.
