Predictions time. My winners on left: MD Lars PAASKE/Jonas RASMUSSEN v Mohd Fairuzizuan MOHD TAZARI/Woon Fui LIN JR and LP seem to be back on song. MAS boys will smash away as usual but experienced Danes to take it in 3 tight games Markis KIDO/Hendra SETIAWAN v Anthony CLARK/Robert BLAIR My favourite MD pair should win but tough-as-nails English pair won't go quietly Jens ERIKSEN/Martin LUNDGAARD HANSEN v Ji Man HWANG/Sang Hoon HAN The Danes are hungry; watch them devour some kimchi Luluk HADIYANTO/Yulianto ALVEN v Haifeng FU/Yun CAI Calling for an upset here. Just a hunch WD (SF) Ling GAO/Sui HUANG v Jing DU/ Yang (F) YU Yawen ZHANG/Yili WEI v Wei YANG/Jiewen ZHANG Don't care but for the record the #1 & 2 seeds to contest the final WS Ning ZHANG v Tracey HALLAM ZN in an uncompromising mood in her demolition of WMC. Tracey will be cannon fodder Huaiwen XU v Petya NEDELTCHEVA A close one with the Chinese/German to win. Petya is underrated and has performed superbly Yanjiao JIANG v Petra OVERZIER Petra played the match of her life to eliminate WC. Unfortunately Jiang will take care of her in 2 games Xingfang XIE v Hongyan PI Xie also looking good. Comprehensive win for her MS Chong Wei LEE v Chunlai BAO LCW will continue to OWN Bao. LCW in 2 Hyun Ii LEE v Jin CHEN Interesting one. After CJ's close call, his mind must be f****d up. LHI's done well in the big ones and I call his name here Peter GADE v Hong CHEN Peter says "Thank you Taufik for taking CH to 3 games". CH aching and out of gas. PG in 2 Dan LIN v Muhd Hafiz B HASHIM LD should roll but could find some resistance if the real HH shows up XD Nathan ROBERTSON/Gail EMMS v Thomas LAYBOURN/Kamilla RYTTER JUHL English pair are really rolling now. Can't see them losing Sudket PRAPAKAMOL/Saralee THOUNGTHONGKAM v Zhongbo XIE/Yawen ZHANG The popular Thai pair to make the Chinese bow in 2 Jun ZHANG/Ling GAO v Anthony CLARK/Donna KELLOGG Next Kien Keat KOO/Pei Tty WONG v Jonas RASMUSSEN/Britta ANDERSEN With them out of their respective MD and WD competitions, the MAS pair can concentrate on the job at hand. They will be determined and will not be denied
Day 5 of WC 2006 (SF for WD and QF for others) Wow!! No one had made any prediction yet! So I start it! Yesterday from 36 matches I predict 5 wrong. So I am 87% right about my prediction. Not bad, Lets start with: XD Very competitive here. 3 Denmark pair, 2 China pair and one Thai, Bristish and Malaysia pair. This is a first after a very long time, Indonesia didn't had even one pair in WC QF. Zhongbo XIE/Yawen ZHANG v Sudket PRAPAKAMOL/Saralee THOUNGTHONGKAM Chances:52:48 So far its a tie between them 2-2. But the last match win by the Chinese. If ZYW play as usual and don't let her serve fault expreience traumatized her, xZB/ZYW will moved to SF with 3 hard fought sets. Nathan ROBERTSON/Gail EMMS v Thomas LAYBOURN/Juhl Kamilla RYTTER Chances 55:45 So far it 3-1 for the British pair. But lately the Danes play very well. If Nathan can control his emotion the British will check into SF in 3 sets. . Jun ZHANG/Ling GAO v Donna Kellog/ Anthony Clark Chances 55:45 Lady luck really sided by ZJ/GL side. After their nemesis Lee Yong Dae/Hwang YM lostin R32, now their other top rival Nova/Lili lost in R16. The Chinese will moved to SF in 2 closed sets. Jonas RASMUSSEN/Britta ANDERSEN v Kien Keat KOO/Pei Tty WONG Chances: 54:46 Can JR had enough energy in order to win both in XD and MD. I think he can. 3 hard sets. MD Another open matches, 2 Indonesia pair, 2 Denmark pair, 1 China, British, Korea and Malaysia pair. Haifeng FU/Yun CAI v Luluk HADIYANTO/Yulianto ALVEN Chances: 55:45 So far the record is 7-2 for Cai/Fu including their last win in TC 2006. Cai/Fu will win in 2 closed sets. Jens ERIKSEN/Martin LUNDGAARD HANSEN v Han Sang Hoon/ Hwang Ji Man. Chances 60:40 If the Korean didn't play extremely well, the Danish pair will sail in 2 sets. Anthony Clark/Robert Blair v Markis KIDO/Hendra SETIAWAN Chances 45:55 Suprisingly, the Bristish had 1-0 record over the Indonesia pair. And they did t this year. But Indonesia pair must had high confidence after their win in R16. 2 Closed sets. Mohd Fairuzizuan MOHD TAZARI/ Woon Fui LIN v Lars PAASKE/Jonas RASMUSSEN Chances 45:55 LP/JR had 3-0 record against the Malaysia pair. 2 very closed sets for the Danes. WS Probably everybody already guess who will meet in the final. 3 China player, 2 Germany player, and 1 British, France and Bulgaria player. Its a first that we had 3 Asia player and 5 European players in a WC QF. Ning ZHANG v Tracey Hallam Chances 80:20 ZN will roll easily in the SF round. Yanjiao JIANG v Petra Overzier Chances 58:42 Bonus for Jiang that WC lost in R16. 2 sets for Jiang and will meet ZN in SF. Hongyan PIv Xie Xing Fang. Chances 42:58 XXF play very well when she defeated Tine R. So XXF will roll to SF in 2 close sets.. Huaiwen XU v Petya N Chances 60:40 Although Petya improved a lot lately. But the 5-0 record for Xu already said it all. Xu to the SF. MS Wow! We had 4 China players here, 2 from Malaysia and one from Korea and Denmark. And Indonesia failed too put even one player in QF here despite PBSI sending more MS than WS to lots of tournament this year. So can the China squad made a history for being the first country to made All China MS SF in WC history? They can do it but the chances are slim indeed. Chong Wei LEE v Bao Cunlai Chances 54:46 Although BCL already play more calmly and win a title this year. But his record against LCW is 0-6. Can he made it into 1-6? Not easy at all. LCWwill win in 3 sets. Chen Jin VS Lee Hyun Il Chances 52:48 They already meet 3 times this year only with 2-1 for CJ. CJ will win in another thriling 3 sets. Peter Gade VS Chen Hong. Chances 55:45 PG adapt very well in this new scoring than CH. Not to mention thetiredness after CH win a marathon game against Taufik. Muhd Hafiz B HASHIM v Lin Dan Chances 40:60 The record say it all 5-0 for Lin Dan win. 2 sets for LD to sail to SF. WD If China can take their other 2 WD pair into WC Zhang Dan/Zhao Ting Ting and Tian Qing/Pan Pan, they probably will had 6 China WD in QF spot and leave two other spot for other countries to fight for. (With note that the Korean pair Lee/Lee injured) The result is as clear as day when Lee Hyo Jung injured herself and withdraw. All 4 China WD in SF Jing DU/Yang (F) YU v Gao Ling/Huang Sui Chances: 40:60 Gao/Huang will win in 2 closed sets or maybe not so close. Yang Wei/Zhang Jie Wen v Yawen ZHANG/ Yili WEI Chances 52:48 Cause Zhang JW injured herself lightly during WC, therefore a big chance for ZYW/WYL to win. THeir record so far this year 2-1 for YW/ZJW. But due to a tons of experience, YW/ZJW will sail to final in 3 closed sets.
La TIVI of Indonesia plan to broadcast WC live from Friday. Friday & Saturday 17:00 WIB Sunday 19:00 WIB Lets hope at least one Indonesia pair can reach final so La Tivi won't change their mind to broadcast this event live.
To me it is looking pretty exciting in all categories (WD being exception.) MS: LCW, Bao, Lin, PG, Chen Hong have all failed to deliver in the major tournaments (OG and WC) although LCW has not much experience at these. This Leaves Hafiz and the two physical players Lee and Chen Jin. I will not rule out Chen Jin Winning, despite his young age and relative inexperience to the rest. I honestly can't see Gade, Chen, Bao or Lee winning. Hafiz is inconsistent but on his day could take anyone. can Lin make the final Hurdle? Chen or LCW for me. can't wait though WS: Interesting selection, but I feel the interest ends tomorrow. It will Be ZN vs XHW and XXF vs YJ with the expected ZN Vs XXF final. WD: No Comment except the best two pairs will play each other in the final and the best will win ( Gao/Huang vs Yang/Zhang>>>Yang/Zhang win again) MD: the biggest chokers left today (sorry MAS fans), and we are left with some great games. Is JR/LP back??I hope so! I tihnk the two danish pair and the two INA pairs will make semi, and an All Danish final. XD: Jonas has a good chance to make the final, but I think he should focus on MD more. JR Vs Zhang/Gao in Semi 2, Xie/Zhang vs Robertson/Emms in Semi 1 All CHN Final I think but with ENG pair you never know, they could steam roll everyone, but they never have, so impossible to predict what they will do.. I hope Zhang/Gao Win, they are experienced and have been there before. Remember IN WC it is all about winning, Rankings mean nothing, 2nd place means nothing players are fighting to have their name etched in history, it takes a different kind of player.
Just Read Elwins post in this thread: http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=36361&page=56 post #1002 Looks like Gao/Huang will win then......
i can potentially see all of the MS matches to go to 3 games. (the LD vs. Hafiz will probably end in 2)
Hope Jiang Yanjiao can give people a surprise and clinches the title, so to make herself a double world champion.
Off topic...Oh My.. ..kwun, looking at the "World Championships 2006 Day 4 (21/09)" thread, is that the first time ever a thread, in BC/BF, has gotten over 1,000 replies and over 25,000 views?!?!
here are mine. in play order. also note the games to be broadcasted on TV: - Mohd Fairuzizuan MOHD TAZARI/ Woon Fui LIN v Lars PAASKE/Jonas RASMUSSEN i am rooting for JR/LP to win this whole thing. far too much experience for the MAS youngsters. - Ling GAO/Sui HUANG v Jing DU/ Yang (F) YU little question about that one. Gao/Huang still more skillful though the youngsters are getting better. - Yawen ZHANG/Yili WEI v Wei YANG/Jiewen ZHANG (TV) i predict there will be a walkover on this match. - Zhang Ning vs. Tracey Hallam. simply a different league. - Lee Chong Wei vs. Bao Chunlai (TV) this will be a close 3 game match. i thikn LCW will prevail. surely a treat for the TV audiences. - Petya Nedeltcheva vs. Xu Huaiwen Petya's run should end here. - Anthony Clark/Robert Blair v Markis KIDO/Hendra SETIAWAN (TV) it will probably be a close match, Markis/Hendra seems to be in good form. - Chen Jin vs. Lee Hyun Il tough one to call. Lee Hyun Il to win with a small margin. - Chen Hong vs. Peter Gade (TV) tough one again. i think Peter will win with a small margin. - Jens ERIKSEN/Martin LUNDGAARD HANSEN v Han Sang Hoon/ Hwang Ji Man i think the Danes are in a mission this year. - Nathan ROBERTSON/Gail EMMS v Thomas LAYBOURN/Juhl Kamilla RYTTER (TV) go Thomas. i never liked the English pair i am afraid. - Hafiz vs. Lin Dan Hafiz is no match for Lin. - Yanjiao JIANG v Petra Overzier tough one again. Petra can be quite lethal. Jiang to win. - Sudket/Saralee vs. Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen (TV) oh, how cruel. both of them are my favorites. in terms of strength, the match should go to the Chinese, but i do want to see the Thai's win as well... the only good thing is that the match will be on TV court.. - Pi Hongyan vs. Xie Xingfang sorry Pi, no match to the very in form XXF. - Fu Haifeng / Cai Yun vs. Luluk/Alven (TV) what a treat. Fu/Cai have a good record against the INA pair. Fu/Cai to win. - Zhang Jun / Gao Ling vs. Anthony Clark / Donna Kellogg the british pair are not strong enough against the olympic champs.. - Jonas Rasmussen / Britta Andersen vs. KKK/WPT (TV) Jonas is an excellent mixed player. besides, we always support JR here. so JR/BA to win!
If memory serves me correct, this pales in comparison with the MAS v DEN TC semis... let me see... 1,827 replies, 62,578 views
thanks madbad for looking that up. for non-team events, usually the traffic peak at the QF. that's where matches starts to get exciting combined with more matches than SF/F stages. let's go break some records!
Off topic.. ok, ok...yah, i remember that big showdown..wow, 1,827 replies & 62,000+ hits..kwun, you sure your server can take another round of "beat-hits"...hehe....
