aside from feel and power, etc. i think the difference between the two is that ZM62 @ 27lbs is much less stressful on the frame than ZM70 @ 33lbs. ZM62 probably lasts shorter but i'd choose to break more strings than to break more rackets.
Hmm mine went good with the handpull, but a bit soft for oversized head, and the stringer didnt do the 23x22 pattern X( so i think the string could do better....
alright. so it is official and final and all that. ZM62 @ 27lbs is now my default setup. and Dink, it is all your fault.
Hopefully you don't break it easily 0.62mm at 27lbs, that's an achievement by itself, considering it took me 5 minutes to mis-hit and break BG80 (0.68mm) at 31lbs On a different note, is ZM70 at 31lbs anything similar to BG65 or BG80 at the same tension?
Hi Guys Just seen this Zymax 62 200m reel for £59.99. See link below http://www.sweatband.com/ashaway-zymax-badminton-string--200m-reel.html This seems very cheap but not sure if they post to Malayisa or whther the cost would be prohibitive. Cheers
in general, new strings do do that. after a couple of sessions they will settle in. how do you like it so far?
I felt off today, I wasnt playing right so i didnt really get into any good rallies to really get the power of my racket. However im not getting the feel I want right now from it. Hopefully it will change on tuesday when i play again. If it doesnt i'll try the 70s before i switch back the micropowers.
Update - just put a Z65 prototype set on my trusty T2 for use tomorrow. First impressions on Thurs followed by second impressions on Sat. Zeroth impressions - gives very little prestretch when stringing, so I'm anticipating good to very good tension holding.
i am down to the last ZM62 in my stock after stringing 3 in a row last night. help!! might try out the ZM65 next. i cannot imagine it play any better than the ZM62 though. the ZM62 isn't breaking fast enough for me.
LOL..I dont' think you're crazy. I strung my my AT 900P with 62 at 27 lbs and it felt good. However, the high frequencies I was hearing did make me a little uneasy as I have never heard such high pitched frequencies on my racket before and surely did not want accidents to happen that sometimes come with higher tensioned rackets. Previously, I did have issues with the durability of this string given that at this tension, a mis-hit will break the string, however, it forced me to to focus more on hitting the sweet spot. I am now happy to say with the last three string jobs with Zymax 62, the string has now lasted about 3 weeks without any significant mishits or significant loss of tension.
Tried the Z65 on Weds and yesterday - 24.5/27 on my T2. Power is very good indeed, roughly 5-10% down on Z62, which is pretty much what I was expecting. The noise is addictive - it lacks bass (like Z62), but it's a brilliant, penetrating crack when you really get hold of one. The bed is extremely stiff, with almost no dwell time, making netters extremely accurate. It seemed to be intolerant of off-centre hits, though, losing a great deal of length if hit to the side of the sweetspot. Doesn't have the sandpapery texture of Z62, but I was playing it as though it did, and made a lot of slicing errors. The excellent control is thanks largely to the bed's reluctance to bend. Serving was a particular highlight - I was getting plenty of lifted returns once I got my eye in. I've seen very little tension loss so far which, given the lack of sag on prestretch, is par for the course. Durability... can't comment yet, but it's been through a couple of 3 hour sessions of about ten games each (with plastic shuttles, I might add) and shows no signs of wear. If I were Ashaway I would ditch Z67 in favour of this - it's much better, but it could do with some roughness of surface like the other Zymaxes.
Janet was playing a tournament today. she asked if she can borrow the other AT700 (with ZM62@27lbs) as a spare. now she is addicted too! i don't think i am ever getting it back! :crying: :crying:
