aHAhaH Cooler, da funi man love this forum I have no idea what your coach means, but I think the way you hold your racquet, your grip, is probably not correct. with a relaxed wrist and the correct grip, it shouldn't be a problem to strike the birdy with the "pop" . The key here is that, if your wrist is relaxed and at the same time you can hold your racquet firmly with your pinkie-mariage-middle finger and allow the opposite side of the racquet to rest firmly on the meaty part of your palm, while the pointing finger and thumbs gently grabs onto the racquet, then you shouldn't have problems using your wrists. In my experience, most people have problems using their wrist during badminton play is because they're not used to holding the racquet firmly as described about and at the same time relax their wrist. I hope you understand what I said, no flames please

When you swing your racquet, are you swinging it like a tennis racquet where your wrist is stiff? Or are you relaxing your wrist and leading the swing with the butt of your racquet? Flat shots can be described like using a tennis-like stroke. Like Aotis said, the way you hold your racquet is really important to be able to do use your wrist properly. Think of it like shaking hands with your badminton racquet.
Okay, I'll explain the pics. If you are using all arm in your stroke, your follow-through is likely to resemble the guy on the left. With correct stroke, your follow-through should go across your body. This is kinda hard for me to explain what I'm talking about. I'd be better off showing it in person. Perhaps someone more fluent in the technicalities of badminton stroke mechanics could elaborate upon my point. Phil

I really can't stop laughing when I read the two threads by reddragon, especially the replies from cooler, it's hillarious. He may be saying something legitimate but it's simply ... funny! Anyway, I do hope everybody use at least proper English here; no need for the Queen's English but simple English that everybody understands. Understand you I do not, if speak in riddles you do. Hmmmmm?
Lol. I agree about the English part though. Don't understand... this thread is kind of off topic don't you think so? Careful it doesn't get locked or deleted...
The other thing ...about using proper English or at least English that is understandable is that it will show up in search queries.
