I'm a student and I would say that I have a good understanding of Badminton and I want to help my school improve as I am the Student Coach of my school. I want to coach the people that attention this after school club but I don't know how to start to coach them.... Should I start on footwork ? Should I start on over head work ? Can someone help ?
Thank You for the reply The club happens Thursday at my school but today I thought I should teach them how to backhand low serve. Would that be good ? or follow what you said above ?
Just make sure you have a clear session plan in your head, and ideas as well to change it about depending on how the session goes. Also try and progress your activity, start with the basics, then let the better amongst them to progress further. Good luck!
You can also try to teach them the low backhand serve but in singles the high serve is easier for beginners. If you/they play doubles most of the time then you can obviously forget about the high service
That's what my teacher and I have done we have split some players so that they play with me and others and try and play games but today I thought I should try and coach them but it is quite difficult.
What are the aims of the class? Are you teaching a school team or are you teaching a general class for interest? In either case, the objectives will be different and the skills you teach will be different. Like a backhand low serve is OK for a team training, but trying to teach beginners would be really difficult. I would actually teach beginners the forehand serve as they can use that for singles and doubles.
