..quick few photos to share (the one with the aerial shot shows the O2 arena w/the white roof)...will share some more later tonight after a mini dinner with Fengwei & BoogieeigooB.. First impression of London after just a few hrs, it reminds me a bit like M'sia (esp. the area just outside of the airport). Heathrow is nice and modern has that same feeling like HK Airport & KLIA with the transit train.. The city, definitely has that old feeling, esp. outside of London... The transport looks like it's gonna be the same as the other British-based system.. Weather currently is unusually warm & humid..i thought i'm in M'sia or Indonesia..
Chris, if you're in London this Friday get out just after 8am there will be bells ringing everywhere (at 8:12am to be precise).
i thought you're gonna take some photos and share w/us as you're local?.. thanks for the tip abt friday morning bells ringing..
I thought he needs to justify why he didn't go to centralized training? Something about medical report?
Some more photos from Day 1.. ..here are some more photos.. - Took a few Tube rides...they eerily remind me of 4 yrs ago in Beijing. Except these Tube rides in London are more complicated and the people riding them are mostly caucasians (Brits).. - Had a nice dinner w/BoogieeigooB & Fengwei in London's main chinatown area.. - The streets were alive tonight, especially around Piccaddily Circus & Leicester Square areas.. - Had a street-performance guy playing and blowing music out of that street cone!!! - The photos of the buildings is the area where Fengwei & i are staying..
So you like Picadilly circus and Leicester Square? I am quite amazed how clean the trains look. I mean, I never seen them look so clean before except when the district line trains got revamped to their present style. This is a picture of the old look. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CO_Stock_at_Barking.jpg
Even the lighting inside the restaurant has the same theme.. ..i don't know if it's a coincidence or it already used a pink lighting before ?
so far those are the areas for 1 night..was't totally packed but had a lot of people (esp. tourists).. *Btw, the name of the station Leicester is actually pronounced "Lester"... As for the train/Tube areas, i assume they cleaned up the stations, tracks, trains just for this OG..
left in 1992. went back for a quick holiday in 1998 to meet up with some old friend for a couple of days. and that's it. now regretting not going this Olympics now. would be awesome to go around, see the old places, hang out with Chris and all you guys. ah well.
With your new, ahem, deep English accent, it should be pronounced closer to Less-ster (Leice-ster). Not Lester. But indeed, the tube and rail stations are usually kept pretty clean. Unlike the graffity sprayed Paris Metro.
i thought and was pronouncing it "Lai-ces-ter", even thought it's "Lai-kes-ter", like Manchester..until i was told it's pronounced "lester/leice-ster"..
