    Hi all,

I'm curious for doubles, on the very first lift to you of the first game what is your choice of attack? Do you smash or drop? what kind of smash do you do? full out random smash, steep smash or flat smash? and where do you place it? if you drop, what kind and where?

I'm sure this sets the tone for the game and starts to make the opponent think a certain way and position themselves a certain way.

    What are you thoughts?

I would always start with the smash that is most likely to leave me in control of the rally, and to get my partner involved at the net. I would much rather win the first point with a smash from me and an easy put away by my partner, than a full blown smash winner. I think this creates the idea that we are working as a team. After this has happened a few times, then the drops start, with the slices, the punch clears and the full blown flat power smashes - I like to get them worried about us as a pair to begin with, and then I start doing all the fancy stuff :)
