Hello, Prior to a smash should your non-racket leg be parallel to your racket leg, or more pointed towards the net? Lump.
Whatever direction is most stable as you'll be transferring most of your body wt on it... just like throwing a pebble.
Parallel is too static. After smashing is more work to come in a balanced and suitable standing. Also a Parallel smash would hit your leg if you follow though and you won't be able to generate enough power through bodyrotation for a heavy and useful smash.
