Hi all, I dun think it's possible but is there any true, non-dangerous way to train my reflexes when I'm not playing badminton? As in so I can react even faster when I see a smash coming, especially returning Byro's smashes from now onwards What the heck, even modious's smash is getting faster nowadays (nice MP- 100 ) I believe that will also improve my overall playing too. Thanks for any help!
concentration, practice, and not afraid of the smash even if the smash is just above the net... I suppose it also helps if you have martial art background, especially with weapons.
Aikido? Wait I see one shuttle cock flying by, I will catch it by hand and throw it either down or back to the opponent, haha
Maybe... Try this. http://www.vectorinternet.co.uk/games/kick-ups.html It's for fun only, my highest is 63.
Re: Maybe... No lah, today first day I given trial of the desktop support. Waiting for phone calls lor while surfing the net Next month will be busy liao BTW have u seen my AB1000 review? My English damn poor Wa this topic getting very off liao hahaha
Re: Maybe... Hee must thanks to you mah, for agreeing to exchange with me Wa, no one reply to my this topic ah? Really no way to train reflexes? Maybe I should try the method like in Dragon Ball Z, ask someone to train stones at me and I try to dodge all of them
Re: Maybe... I read a article about pete g about his life with badminton when he is younger. He said he pratices lot by himself hitting shuttle against the wall. It help him to re-act better, it help him focus the shuttle more (less focus on body motion and racket, less chance of getting fool by deception shot), and increase consistency. Although I'm old, I do the wall drill a lots, the shuttle bounces off the wall very eratic, and it very difficult to keep the volley going. Now I'm better, average over 10 stroke before losing to the wall. Give it a try, you don't need a good shuttle. Just remember when you first try it, it seems almost impossible, usually you can hit only one or two time before you lose control and has to start all over again. It take me over 3 months of pratice to have a decent volley with the wall. I find the wall and my 6 years old neice to be more reliable and fun compare to imcompetent pratice partner who consistently hit it out, hit into the net, hit the rim of their racquet, it sad by true.
Re: Maybe... i guess you could do some plyometrics. better yet do an exercise which require uick sharp movement.i guess this doesny help with your reaction time, but it does make your body fast.your muscle fibres become acute. just like bruce lee! i'm talkin nonesense.goodbye
Re: Maybe... How far should I actually stand from the wall? Cos I used to try this at home when I was quite young. During that time I can't find friends to play with me so I have to resort this way. But as the shuttle cock is not as bouncy as normal balls, sometimes the shuttlecock just hit on the wall and drop straight down Did I train wrongly?
Re: Maybe... tyr hitting the shuttle flat and do not lift it too high....this way your rally will last longer. and better yet try practising with a squash racquet...this will also strengthen your wrist and it's a good warm-up....
how abt kick boxing?? dun think it will help much though. but there's always judo, karate, and taekwondo.
Re: Maybe...relax Speed of hand is important. similar concepts can be found in martial arts (but not emphasised at beginner/moderate levels) - that is the arm must be relaxed for maximum speed. having the muscles in your arm tensed up will slow your stroke speed. Then produce the power by suddenly contracting the particular muscle group needed. I am sure Byro produces his wonder smash in this fashion. ) Obviously, the defence technique must be correct with early preparation of the racquet hand way in front of the body , rather than too close to the body.
