This isnt a question on how you do it. Well i guess it actually is but neways i was just thinkin since i am a defence player i have yet found a player whose smash I cannot return(does not matter what skill level) I was going to give out some pointers to any one who need some. First off i feel that i guess beginners have the tendency to turn when smashed on. 1st thing, Do not FEAR the smash. Face it how else are you suppose to see it to get your racquet on it. Secondly Read Kwuns guide to holding a badminton. PRACTICE switching from forehand to backhand. Then in a game situation. get low, knees bent and i always have my backhand at my chest. That way its an easy return when its in front or to the left of you (im Right handed). Thats the basics ask me any thing and ill try my best to help you out
*cough* That would be my guide to grips, I believe Many thanks to Kwun, of course, for publishing it here. But not so easy when it's to your right! The other stuff is good advice, but preparing with a backhand makes you vulnerable to anything on your forehand side. It's a needless gamble. Better to have your racket lower than the chest too, I think.
Sorry about that Gollum Anyways i feel that having your raquet at your chest gives you more mobility personal prefrenece i guess. But i also have a quick back to fore hand reaction. Its decieving to the other player and gives me a decent set up Sry bout that again
