She always seems to have a lot of strapping on her legs and elbows. Perhaps a cumulation of injuries is taking their toll.
Sigit was all wrapped up like a mummy a few years ago but he managed to beat his injuries. Maybe Gong just runs out of motivation?!?
aaawww....NONONONONONO!!!:crying::crying: she is leaving the national team. i will nvr see her play again!! :crying:
Yes, she didn't seem very motivated recently, and has been under-performing since the olympics... Sad she decides to retire instead of fighting back though...
You're right cheung ... yesterday i saw hongyan and she told me that she also left china team because of cumulation of injuries .. =//
At least she is still active in the badminton arena. Too bad we might not be able to see her in action for international meets.
It is indeed injuries taking their toll Gong Ruina Quits National Badminton Team Author: CRI Online Tuesday 7 June 2005 Former world champion Gong Ruina has decided to leave the Chinese national badminton squad. The decision came after the International Badminton Federation's latest announcement of not granting wildcards at the World Championships. The veteran shuttler had been plagued by injuries since the Athens Olympiad and was left out from the upcoming World Championships. Therefore, she decided to leave the national team. However, her native Hunan provincial team was not previously aware of her decision. They hoped she would reconsider her decision and remain on the national squad.

Seawell, Nice, Do you have any photo's from World Juniors 1998, Melborune? This was first time I saw Gong Ruinia and was very impressed. Regards Stuart
Damn! That cannot be true? She is just 26! But I think some of you are right - she lost the initiative or motivation. That is always the most important thing to make you want to keep doing what you could. Or is she... no. Nah, I don't think so.
