I've been reading a lot about pronation and supination and can somewhat imagine what those motions look like. However, I'm still not 100% sure. Could anyone kindly post up pictures that can show me those motions? Thanks!
Was thinking about the arms, I actually didn't know those terms could apply to other parts of the body as well.
I'm just guessing. The motion is the rotation of the forearm--like when you open a doorknob. If you're right-handed, you supinate your forearm to turn the doorknob clockwise and you pronate to turn it counter-clockwise. In the forearm stroke, you supinate your forearm when you go into your "archer" stance and then pronate the forearm as strike the shuttle.
I think this is what you are looking for, please see if it is useful. http://www.badmintonplanet.com/cgi-bin/playbetter/moretips.html
I found this thread to be extremely useful in understanding the pronation topic. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11173&highlight=pronation
(for pronation / supination of wrist / hand ) take a cell phone, or a t.v remote control in your hand. hold your hand palm up, and the buttons on the device face up. now turn it so that (if right hand) buttons and palm faces laft, reverse if left hand. (explanation for right hand) turnhand so buttons face downwards, thats pronation, if buttons turn face up, that's supination
