Currently, I use the headlight Ti-10 2U and also have 3U Ti-10 and MP88. I can clear further and higher with 2U Ti-10 versus 3U Ti-10 and MP88. In terms of absolute length, I think we're looking at about 3 ft difference (which is huge gamewise). However, net play with 3U is better. My question is how people transition from 2U to 3U, is it simply a matter of increasing swing speed to match the reduced mass (F=Mass x accel?), because i try to swing faster with the 3U, yet I can't match the length and height of my clears with my 2U racquet. All racquets are strung to same tension of 22lbs and I'm a beginner.
I think the same player will have the same swing speed with a 3U or a 2U. High speed swing action requires that the racquet dimensions must be minimized in the swing direction to minimize air resistance.
Since you are asking for more power than control, try experimenting with different tension on your 3U racket, oh say, use 21lbs and keep your 2U racket at 22lbs. See if there is any difference in power. Cheers.
