Hey i just received a yonex muscle power 99 from tum 98. and restringing it at 21lbs with a 6 support stringing machine. Near the end of the cross at the neck the racket finally snaps... I just emailed him and im not sure if he will give me a refund. So if anyone has his home phone, his adress or something so i can contact him and demand a refund for this racket! Thanks
I feel your loss. Did you visually inspect the racket prior to stringing it? I always look for cracks or defects before any string job, or I may have to pay for that racket. Did the racket break at the clamp/support location? Sometimes the clamp/support did not secure that area of the racket and can cause too much stress on the frame. Anyways, I doubt it if the seller will replace with a new one. He can blame the stringer, in this case, YOU. Imagine if you given the racket to someone else to string and they broke the racket, would the stringer pay for the new racket? Is your racket SP or TH coded racket? Probably no warranty too. Next time, should get a CD or US coded racket, comes with warranty to protect you from this kind of incident.
you found foam in the racquet? hmm... interesting breakage... frame buckled... could be due to a number of reasons.
I am not doubting your stringing nor saying that the racquet has a defect but was it you that posted something about stringing a muscle power 99 in the "stringing techniques" sub forum? When I read your initial post, it seemed like you were not completely confident in your stringing.
OUCH! I had a racket break like that once. I absent mindedly forgot to lock the machine properly and kaBING. Breaking a racket in two places is tough to do!
i got a lot of rackets from tum98 before and they're all good. I don't think he will replace it for you but you can try.
Me too. I have never had any problem with Wisanu (Tum98). There maybe other factors involved such as defective racket and/or stringer's fault. I know Wisanu would not knowingly sell a defective racket.
anyone else has problem like this, i really want a mp99 but that snap looks discouraging even if i can get unlimited number of replacements
I have dealt with tum98 4 times, all racquets are great. The snap was probably the result of poor stringing
Ouch I just strung my MP99 last night at 27lbs. 21lbs should never have killed yours. Maybe you can see if you can get something from the shipping company. Or maybe even with paypal if you used them for paying.
What do you mean trying to get money from paypal or the shipping company? I strung many racquets before and i never had any problems. When the raquet broke the carbon i saw was very thin. I haev a muscle power 28 it broke and when i look at the crack the carbon was thick... And no he hasnt replied. IF you live in CAL and in losangeles and met up with him could you please help me out.
It's in this thread. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41196 He does not sound like an experienced stringer. An MP 99 should not break at all @ 21lbs. Either there's a defect or you need to get more experience stringing cheaper rackets first. In that thread: Are you saying all your rackets that you strung broke a month later?
How's about a picture of the string machine setup with a racket? Maybe we can help you solve this mystery. Did you do a one or two string job? I can imagine the side support/clamps did not hold the frame and it just collapsed under the tension.
