Something tell me Wang Chen might win it when she beats Zhang Ning and she did. Another humble pie on Li Yongbo straight in the face.
Yup, kudos to her! She is the one, together with LCW cracking the "Wall of China" this time. She beaten the more fancied ZN and ZL, while LCW beaten CH and BCL. Its like slapping left and right of the face of LYB.... lol
Zhu Lin was simply no match for Wang Chen. Wang Chen was testing Zhu Lin during the beginning of the match.
I predicted Wang Chen to lose.. but she proved me wrong. She played extremely well. Kudos to Wang Chen!
It was a close call for her in the semifinal though! Having watched part of the match, I'd have to say she looked more mentally stable compared to other times in the past. She maintained her concentration and rhythm which has been her downfall in the past. Have to say congratulations to her and hope she can maintain the mental side of things. She has wonderful technical ability.
Zhu Lin could not play well after the shuttle hit her eye. Wang Chen smashed at Zhu Lin's face which hit her eye. Zhu Lin could not open her eye for a while.
I've seen teh same thing happen in Asia Cup2000. That time Chen Yu hit Hendrawan in the eye with the shuttle. Zhu Lin didn't have it as bad as that time.
zhu lin might feel the phobia after the shuttle hit her eye. it's a smash! very dangerous and might get blind. Sheung Mo got partially blind after a shuttle hit his eye in secondary school.
yeah, shuttles in the eye really hurt, a friend of mine in the club had to have an operation after it happened to him, and these are just club players smashing!
after a smash, the shuttle travel too fast. we can't even avoid it! that's the danger. huh, a lucky escape for Zhu Lin. it's ok she lost today. at least, she walked away with her TWO EYES.
That is the difference between professional and weak club players like me. When the opponent is ready to smash, I close my eyes and hide or run away. I don't even try to take the smash in the front of the court -- too dangerous and I will not loose one eye to try to save the point.
congrats to wang chen she played well 2day, catching up from 4-11 to even it at 13 allin G1. this win shows tat she's still good.hehe.poor zhu lin got hit by the shuttle in the eyes.luckily she's ok. wang chen kept apologizing. her face expression shows tat she felt bad bout it.hehe
Looks like my key weapon hitting shuttlecork to injure player and hopefully win by default is being used by many top notch players now
Been hitted in the eye is horrible. I was hitted once in the eye due to a crap double low serve and my training partner smashed it hard at my eye. Was blinded for 30secs. Then vision was blurred for a few minutes before I regain 100% sight. It was a very painful and scary experience. Ever since then, I learned my lesson and concentrate+confident when I am serving to a good player.
I'm delighted for her, esp. her win over ZN. Actually,it looks like she's playing better now.In the past she's famous for her shoelace-tying routine as an excuse to 'rest'. Now it seems her stamina has improved. Perhaps she has put in effort to work on her fitness and stamina to extend her career.(That's why a few 'oldies' seem to play better as they grow older. XHW did that so she can continue to play badminton but regretted she did not work harder on that aspect when she was younger because she did not think she needed to or that it can make a big difference to her game!)And now with ZM representing HKG, maybe she will be even better with her as a sparring partner.
Thank goodness I still have my glasses on when playing. Good protection for the eyes versus contact lens.
Haha, shoelace-tying. I never noticed that of Wang Chen. But it brings me back to Foo Kok Keong, surely the king of shoelace-tying. Congrats to Wang Chen. And by beating Zhang Ning, too.
It must be painful when the shuttle hit ZL's eye. It might have distracted her concentration. Anyway, congrats to Wang Chen. She played well yesterday.
