Some pictures I took today at HK's Annual badminton championship. 1st picture - a very well attended event. Many spectators watching a local tournament.
Hui WH - good smash. I remember being on the receiving end a few years back - only 3 years ago. 8 people to a court for warming up.
Quite difficult to get good pictures. I haven't taken badminton photos for while at the speed of these guys. Because the place was so packed, positioning was a bit difficult and lots of people were walking in front of me. AF not so good today probably because of the low contrast from the T shirts.
any result and draw...just curious how many EX INA players move to HK... is tournament being played in Central??? too bad that I will be in HK next week for short meeting...
Umm, no result or draw. I'm just going for the pictures. Ex-Ina players...of course you know Albertus and Johan who are playing together. Now, the 3rd last player is an Indonesian. Young person. but apparently been in HK for a few years now (so somebody told me). This is the first time I've seen him. Now he and his partner (the other young player are 2nd seeds) and are supposed to have recently won a tournament. Perhaps it was the Thailand satellite? I haven't been keeping up recently. No other ex-Indonesians that I know of. The tournament is being played in a sports centre in PeiHo Street Indoor sports arena (that's a rough translation) in ShamShuiPo - about 6 or 7 stops along the red MTR line from Central. If you go this coming wednesday (6 June), most of the semifinals involving the HK squad will be played. Start time is 19.15h. It looks like you can make it then.
Which one is Hui WH??.. ..sorry, is that the gal in the green top, with her arm and racket cocked back, getting ready for a smash??....or the young lad in black shirt & shirt??..
The guy in the black shirt doing the superman jump netshot is Hui WH. He must have been doing that deliberately for the camera
I see, i see.. ..yeah, he must've saw you with the camera, shooting at him and off he went with the actions..hehe
Thanks I think you are talking about Alroy Tanama putra .......I guess Agus is not playing there anymore.. Hm..I have not played in Shamsuipo...I just know badminton courts in Kowloon park, Squash centre in central and gosh...I forgot nest station after TST as well.... I wont get there until June 7 at night..... Thanks!!!
That's right! P Tanama. You are so good on all the Indonesian names. Must tell me how you get your information. I remember they called out his name and used a chinese name. Oh such a pity you won't be there. It will be really packed out. Just like in the past in Indonesia, you'll find people sitting close to the court. Good atmosphere with appreciative audience. About Agus, I didn't look for his name specifically. Will check on this. Last time I spoke to him nearly a year ago, he was getting married and about to start studies at University.
More indonesians should go to HK. But then... its easier for them to adapt in Spore than HKG. furthermore HK is further to Indo than Spore. Nice pics Cheung.
Yup...Alroy Tanama Putra is now based here in HKG...still a young lad..only 22 yo. And for those girls who have friendster (yannie, serla, etc), he does have friendster acct and contain photos of him with some HKG badminton players (including Ng Wei).....not bad Alroy Tanama Putra/Hui Wai Ho indeed just won a tournament this year, the Smiling Fish Thailand Satellite...definitely a good start for him with his local HKG partner. He is also playing in the XD with Chau Hoi Wah. We will definitely see more of him in the circuit...
Cheung, I guess that the last 3 pictures, unlike your earlier ones, were WB on middle grey, either using a grey card or a thick plastic white filter that claims to WB to middle grey.
Wow, She has HUGE quads. Glad to see females with muscles instead of the sticks you usually see walking around. Now I won't feel so bad about developing big quads either.
Draws can be found at http://www.hkbadmintonassn.org.hk/files/an-amd.pdf http://www.hkbadmintonassn.org.hk/files/an-ams.pdf http://www.hkbadmintonassn.org.hk/files/an-aws.pdf http://www.hkbadmintonassn.org.hk/files/an-awd.pdf http://www.hkbadmintonassn.org.hk/files/an-amx.pdf But everything's in Chinese though. Unforunately, I don't know where the results are posted .
