Re: my bag... I do not know. I do not have any exact proof. Theoretically it should be the fastest way how to deliver some extra energy. To be on a safe side I would say that it has some psychological efect on me at least.
Re: my bag... I am not aware of such posting. I tried search function and result was negative. Probably someone else posted such opinion.
Glucose: too much too fast Glucose is a fast source of energy, yes. But in tablet form it's probably one of the worst things you could take during a high-impact activity such as badminton. Glucose is extremely fast carbohydrates, it is absorbed quickly and will cause a sudden increase in insulin production which will make you feel REALLY tired and slow! So, in fact glucose tablets are counter-productive in this case. This is also why water is better than most sports drinks. A good sports drink shouldn't have more than 2-5 % of sugar. Most of them have a lot more than that.
Re: Glucose: too much too fast Thanks, it is an interesting information. I will try to experiment with it. In fact I used the pills rarely - only when I felt really out of energy and there were still some matches to play. (great to know that not me but the pills were guilty when I lost in semifinal ) Now I made some search on internet and indeed I found some info about the phenomena you described.
Re: Glucose: too much too fast You're welcome. It's actually surprising how many players are oblivious to this, even at a higher level. I once saw a match between two Swedish elite players, and one of them drank Coca-Cola between the games! There is probably ten reasons why you wouldn't want to drink that during a match, and the extremely high glucose content is only one of them! He lost the match, by the way.
Re: Glucose: too much too fast it's because of the mentality that if some is good then a whole bunch more is even better.
