The serial number makes sense, the detail of the paint job is fine, it was shrink wrapped, everything points to a normal, real Yonex MP-99 to me.

Made in 2006 (according to the cone code), fonts on cone and shaft code match, hologram is present, butt end logo looks fine. On this evidence... REAL!

It looks pretty good normally the butt cap gives it away, the next step would be to put the racquet through a metal detector. Yonex raquets have a metal insert at the throat of the racquet even the fake ones have it. The last step would be to have a badminton player of good skill put it through the test, to see if it feels right. If all goes well then you may have a genuine or a really good fake raquet.

woow nice mp99, hey amir, what kind of string did you put on it and how did you get the nice yellow color :D

its definitely real but im just curious about something, my mp99 also has the muscle power strip like the one pictured, but ive seen older generation mp99s with a different kind of strip *the kind that is sunken into the frame instead of just on top of the frame* why did yonex change the design?

i strung it with bg65, its simple i just got into local stringing shop and choose between a bunch of colors; at first i wanted to choose orange, but i found yellow more suitable as i saw the color; just i wonder if it was 3U as all my previous racquets are 3U and this 2U version of MP99 feels a little heavy in comparison with those racquets, im worry about my elbow pain to come back with this little heavy MP99;

bg65 comes in yellow??!! i had mine strung with bg80, i didnt know what kind of yellow the bg80 had but when i finally saw the string it was almost neon green :D the racquet looks nice, ill go for that string colour next time too
i really dont notice alot of difference between 3u, 2u and even U...but i dont think 2u will give you any elbow pains
