Hey guys i need help here.I've already took the shuttle at the highest position I can but my drop shot still sucks. When I hit it sharp it will go slow, when i hit it fast it will go over the service line.Any tips to hit a fast and sharp drop shot which will not go over the service line?
fast swing and slice the shuttlecock..... right-handed, slice movement to left side. stringbed face 15-20 degree from parrarel to net. try out yourself to adjust where you want to drop. to left court or right court. stroke like smash but switch to slice... then you will hear 'ting' sound from string......
yeah. my coach always says, smooth stroke, follow through, fast swing, explosion, but need to do slow as well as fast pace drop. all contradictory but she does it so well.... :crying:
Just add a little cutting motion at the point of impact. But whatever it is, it is all about the "feel", you have to feel the shot. And plenty of practice. That's my opinion...
I stand to be corrected here: when I was under coaching - my coach told me that the heights to take a clear, a drop and a smash are slightly different. A clear should be taken at the highest possible point, a drop slightly lower, and a smash another bit lower, but all are in front of me. I am not sure if this is a conventional way of coaching but the coach demostrated the shots well and it kinda of work for me too when I applied them correctly.
i think it depends on what kind of drop shot u wanna play. fast steep dropshot can be effectively used with smash variation. the speed travel of the shuttle in this shot pretty much consistent through out the whole travel distance. the other shot is slice drop. this is slightly harder to practice as u required more control of your swing power when u combine it with the angle of slice. if u master this shot u will be able to control how far the shuttle travel fast before it slows down significantly and drop by controlling the power of the swing and the angle of racket / shuttle at the point of contact.
I'd say the "absolute highest point" is, for me, a very uncomfortable position for hitting shuttles... My keys points are hitting it fast, and slicing it a bit. Though, in my honets opinion, if you dropshot is fast enough, it hardly matters if it lands behind the service line....But variation is still key: you need to be able to hit both fast and slow, long and short dropshots...
