Hans-Kristian Vittingus of Denmark has a new website. I have just come across it at www.hkvittinghus.com HK is one of the new breed of Danish Men's singles players coming thru and last month he won the Victor Dutch International. He has come back from a serious knee injury and will play at Spanish International this week. The site is still under construction but well worth a look to see whats coming through from Denmark. HK plays at Greve Badminton Club as number 2 to Kenneth Jonassen. Regards Mark P
Hello Everyone, I dropped into HK Vittinghus's website this morning as its Monday morning and I try and get around as many players sites as I can to read the players news. I have juest read his blog entry about his defeat in the Spanish Open. I must say he account of his bad defeat is amazing and if you have time its so well worth reading. He has such a fantasic grasp of the English language and as a reader you certainly feel as if you were almost at the game. Its a great insight into the mindset of a professinal badminton player. HK has written for Badzine on occasion and hopefully we can get him to do some more editiorials in the future. His site can be found HERE
Thought it was worth mentioning Hans Kritian Vittinghus's good performance in the recent WC London 2011. He reached the quarters, losing to Chen Jin 21 - 17, 21 - 13 in 54 minutes, and this was certainly not a pushover for Chen. Interesting, level, clever play from HKV - worth keeping an eye on. He also has a blog: http://hkvittinghus.blogspot.com/ smautf
Just noticed this result from Monday's League round:

Jan Ø. Jørgensen Hans-Kristian Vittinghus 19 - 21 15 - 21

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT – HANS-KRISTIAN VITTINGHUS By Mark Phelan – – February 12, 2008Posted in: Features, Players As the Thomas Cup Qualifying stage kicks off in Almere, Netherlands, Denmark has set its hopes on a new comer and asked Hans Kristian Vitinghus to join the squad. Badzine’s correspondent Mark Phelan took a closer look at this strong minded player, who has just come back from a bad injury. Photos, courtesy of Greve badminton Club. Most of us, in our lifetime, experience injury or pain. We have all had to deal with the frustration of not been able to perform or play the sport we love for extended periods due to injury. But not many of us have had the highs of winning your first international event and then being diagnosed with a tumour of the knee all in a twelve month period. Hans-Kristian Vittinghus has experience all these emotions and for this young man from Denmark it has been a truly trying time. Badminton- “For the hell of it” HK as he is known, like most Danes, has been playing badminton since the tender age of 5. He recalls a flyer being posted through the door of his family home advertising badminton for Under 10’s. HK’s sisters wanted to go and like most laid back youngsters HK went along just for the hell of it. A badminton addiction developed and HK played his first team match when he was just 6 years old. HK Stayed with his club Solrod Strand BC up until the age of 18 where he won many different national titles and tournaments. Most notable were the U13 nationals in Men’s doubles and the 2 gold’s he won at the U17 Nationals in Men’s doubles and singles. Internationally HK was part of the winning Danish U15 eight nation’s tournament and twice won the U17 six nations as part of the Danish youth set up. (quite inconvenient the player profiles haven't re-appeared yet on Badminton Denmark's website after the redesign ...)
Good result for the team also, winning 4-2 HKV is one that has really started improving lately amongst the Danes.
Just saw this on Vittinghus' facebook fansite: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdYJKWHFC3XZ78FoKrgUwXw Nice shot!
Im wondering about his chances to go to London. He is in the top 16 but PG and JOJ are in there as well. Who will decide which two (?) players are allowed to go? The association? Very tough decision...
Yes the decision will be taken by his national olympic comitee and Danish Badminton Association. I think they will chose Jan Jørgensen and Peter Gade, but tough choice indeed.
I think they should drop PG that with no chance of winning . Might as well let the youngsters get more big game experiences
Correct, Peter Gade is a spent force.. A realistic coach would put JO, HKV or even Viktor Axelsen to let them experience or at least create some upsets.... Peter Gade cannot win against even an average player....it seems like wasting a slot for Denmark
Agree, but the decision is about respect for a great career as well, so they have to send PG. Despite of this I really think the rules for qualification should be changed, good players cannot compete because of their nationality, that is simply stupid!
