I was looking at the Denmark draw and saw that Fu and Cai are not playing with each other. Cai Yun is playing Chen Xu and Fu Haifeng is playing with Ye Shen. Does anyone know the reason behind this? Is it a temporary thing or are they splitting up for good?
It's a good long time strategy by China to develop their Mens Doubles program. While China may not expect their MD to become as dominant as their WS/WD program, they would like more than one good pair. Splitting up Fu and Cai allow these two to be mentors to younger players. Besides, if Fu and Cai always practice as a pair, there really aren't any Chinese opponents. This way, Fu and Cai will play against each other and improve 2 pairs of MD.
Hi..I have not seen you on line.....how is LA? Talked to one of chinese coach during Macau Open......this is not permanet yet...China badminton is tyring to get better pair...watch out for a guy named Liao Xiao Lung... Like Chen xu with panpan or Zhao Yun Lei... also originally they pair Zheng Bo/Zhang Ya wen now Zheng Bo with Ma Jin...
Hey, how are you doing? I was actually going to sent you a message asking about it. I noticed that Chen Xu's game has improve a lot since the first time I saw him in HK open in 2006. I'll keep an eye open for those players that you've mention.
Your answer is absolutely spot on, hhwoot The irony, however, is that this form of 'mentoring' has produced few great combinations.
I'm curious as to what kind of players Chen Xu and Ye Shen are Since Cai Yun was the strategic half and Fu Haifeng was the tactical half, their new partners will now have to assume the missing roles.
Chen Xu is attacker player and Shen Ye is a front/set up player... During Macau Open...Hehanbin/Shen Ye vs Chinese Taipei...in that match..HHB covered the court all over just like he is playing XD...Shen Ye was confused and became a target...I think Shen Ye defend is quite weak..
Actually I am more interested in He Han Bin/Guo Xen Dong...hopefully i see all of them in Paris Open....
If that's so, it's quite strange to put him in with Fu Haifeng Haifeng is a great smasher alright but he's the weak link when defending!
Guo Zhendong will be happy to get away from Xie Zhongbo. It seems he gets scolded a lot when partnering Zhongbo
Thats true...I think Zhong Bo is the boss I saw the entry list for China Open 2 ( provided by Leonard) Guo Xen Dong/Chen Xu Fu Hai Feng/Cai Yun He Hanbin/Su Jun Jie Liu Xiao Lung/Chai Biao ( future pair..both tall but still raw..both have great smash) Shen Ye/Li Tian Xie Zhong Bo/Zheng Bo
