Any one have more info on this new badmintion facility in Marhkam, Ontario ? I got a leaflet on my car's windshield that free public play during Dec 29 to Jan 10. The address is 60 Spy Court Unit #2. (E. of Woodbine Ave, N of HW7, close to Lee's) Tel :905 258 0773 email: suria193@gmail.com I just called but nobody answer the phone. may be it is X'mas holiday.
You're right! It was closed on Christmas! But it will be opened to the public from December 29th to January 10th. The club will be opened from 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. And 9 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturdays. (Note: Public play will not be available during team and group practice times.) Telephone: 905-258-0773 E-mail: suria143@gmail.com Feel free to contact the above if you have any questions. Addition information will be provided on Monday December 29th. Hope that helped
I'll go & try out these courts definitely. I hope it's floor won't be as hard on my knees as those of Flying Dragon's i.e. knee pain for a few days after playing there.
I called and it was Troy himself answered the phone BTW, he won't play the 09 Toronto Open though. Probably I will go on Monday afternoon (hopefully it will be less crowded then). You cannot book a court. All drop-in guests must share. Team training/group lessons have priorities over drop-in visitors.
I went this afternoon. Overall it's a nice venue. The floor is good. I have knee problems as well but I don't feel uncomfortable today after 2 hours of non-stop play Just the lights are a little glaring, maybe considering use a cover or change to a different type of bulbs?
Glad to hear you had a good time! To ensure comfortable play, a thin layer of commercial underpadding was chosen and placed in between the mats and the concrete. As for the light issue you encountered, I will let Troy know and perhaps he can look into the matter. Thanks for the CC
thanks Cynric! To ryim: it was OK this afternoon I guess because some people still need to go to work today
If you visit in the evening, make sure to bring a sweater cause when your waiting the side to play, it's freezing. Great club btw, I went last night. The courts are really nice.
Only thing I can remember is $660/yr+GST for single an adult all-you-can-play membership, no initiation fee.
I picked an info sheet: membership fee: type quaterly semi-annually annually single $195 $345 $660 student/senior $155 $260 $490 double $265 $485 $940 family $320 $595 $1160 double: two adults. not transferrable family: 2 adults and 2 kids, not transferrable no initiation fee tax not inclusive group lessons, semi-private, and private lessons are also available for members and non-members. I only posted some info on the info sheet. Please do call them to get more details.
I remember that private with Troy is $45 for members and $50 for non-members. Student membership was about $450/yr. Don't quote me on this number though. I can't remember correctly. All I remember was that it was cheaper than mandarin but it wasn't exactly accessible for transit commuters. No initiation fee though. There were three coaches listed on the flyers. I can't remember their names though...
