hi, last week I bought an armortec900 Technique, and well, it's a very good racket, good clears, drops, drives and net play but i seem to lack a bit of power in my smashes... they are still pretty hard, but they arent the killers i'm used to. until last week i used the armortec 500 which is pretty head - heavy... the 900 is also head heavy but still, it feels like the power of my smash has been reduced to about 70-80%... so i am wondering, is there anything i can do to make my smashes go hard again? is the diff between 500 and 900 so big that i need more time to get used to it? or do i need a different smashing technique (i know i don't use my full wrist power in smashes with the AT500). so basically im asking you guys, point out the difference between the AT500 and 900, and how do i make my smashes good again. (i've also heard about lead tape or something, but i dont wanna lose flexibility in defence) thanks for reading this Strobo
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40187 That page might help you. The AT500 is 'medium to stiff' flex, whereas the AT900T IMO is stiffer. That could be causing the reduction of power, but also take into account that the AT900T's head is shaped differently from AT500, supposedly to allow it to be swung faster. Most likely it could be your swing speed/timing that's the root of this problem.
hmm, good advice... since the shaft is stiff i may have to be a little more explosive, more whip-like flicks, and indeed the timing, i will have to get used to the new racket ill keep you up to date!
probably due to timing. i find when i switch from 900p to 900t there's a change in balance and weight and you have to compensate for that with a corrected timing. play with the 900t for couple more time and you'll probably feel it
Also, just a little check: Are u absolutely sure it has the same tension??? With rackets of different shapes, it migth not makes sense to compare tension.
Is this with the factory string .. I bought an Armortec 700 and found that when I had it restrung at 25lbs it produced so much more power, it truly was a transformed racket.
So any update on this? I am in exact the same position, played with AT500 for years and switched to AT900T and could not get the smashing power out of it that many people claim the racket to have.
