    hi bc players,

I was wonder if anyone knows the best technique for doing this particular

serve. I've seen this done by one of the adults at my club so I think its not

illegal. Also, I tend to serve like this because it is very frustrating to give a

good opponent a chance to attack since I usually do a long serve in singles.

I know this serve can be very useful to deceive an opponent (when it

wobbles over the net) , especially when he is more towards the back and

is expecting a high serve. If anyone has good experience with this serve,

could you please give some pointers/tips? any comments or questions are

    appreciated. :D

ps. I'm a singles club player who uses sotx woven 8a.

I think it's only illegal if you're holding the bird at the cork (not 100% sure though). But if you're holding it at the cork, it's called the S-Serve.

So long as you strike the cork and not the feathers, and of course you comply with the other service rules (below waist height, racquet shaft pointing down etc) then it's perfectly legal.
Backhand slice serve is good too.

Strike the cork first not the feathers first.

ok thanks gary! It gets WAY more depth and the deception is amazing.

but yeah, I don't think im going to rely on this serve however because 1) its too risky

& 2) I'm not confident enough with this serve. ex, hitting frame, landing short, etc.

I think im better off doing s-serves. But i've lurked around the forum and apparently that

    serve IS illegal. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64291&highlight=s-serve
