Hi all, i would like to know at what tension can BG80 produce a loud "bang" ? Would 26lbs be enough ?
The higher the tension, the louder the bang. The higher the tension, the harder it is to get the strings to make the bang. I don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with a loud noise when they hit?
Really, when I hit a smash, all the sound seems to be almost identical although Ti coating string will have higher pitch, but that is all there is to it. The big difference is when you actually do drop shot or net shot then the higher tension will definitely sound crisper (ting-ting sound) and not like bouncing sound (tong-tong sound) .
no? but please link i think loud "bang" comes from the final wrist pronation. yes strings do affect but also the quality of the bird as well. i've hit some hard smashes with 30lb tension racket its amazingly loud (bg66) then i hit some pretty hard smashes with an factory strung aluminum yonex it goes "BONK" its best to get a tension that best fit your style of play rather than the sound. on a personal note, aluminum rackets + low tension = bonk, ME LIKE!
Bonking is hilarious. China Super Series 2009 Men's Doubles Finals This match has everything, from players breaking strings and running off court mid-rally, to fake-out yell-drops, to players continuing a rally while sitting down. It's an awesome match and an amazing display of perseverence and heart.
this is the one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h3_qr4KF78&feature=player_embedded# hella funny yell drop
I don't understand why this matters really...I think it comes down to technique more than anything. String and tension could help a bit but I'm pretty sure this is down to the technique in hitting the shuttle.
Hehe - Koo is the MAN at shouty drops. To return to topic, plus one for this: The young ones at our club all use "tonkers", as I call loose/factory strung rackets - lent my 26 lb Zy62 to on Wednesday: "Woah! It makes a really nice noise!" Bless.
lol! Same here, when using my Zymax 67 or NBG98 at 29lb So easy to plz I agree with AuroAx apart from the 'regardless of string' bit. I dont fully disagree but I've found that some strings make a louder noise than others.
Well I should have reworded that I meant it's not "regardless", but rather the different strings have less effect than the changes you can bring about with technique.
Louder sound doesn't mean it is better. I used to think that the louder the better, but after talking to a professional player, he taught me to distinguish between the booming-bang and the pinging-bang. If you hear a bang that is long and dispersed, it is caused by a slight slicing of the hit. Not good if you are doing a smash or a clear. You would want the crispier bang that is short and has more a tinging to it. Although you can get a louder sound by slicing, the birdie doesn't fly as fast or as accurate as the head-on hit. Playing a better game is more important than playing a louder game.
Amen to that. I forgot to mention that distinction between the two sounds. And the loud crack of a bad mishit.
It is possible to get a loud bang no matter the tension. The higher the tension, the more work required to get the sound. IMO this is a criteria that should not be a criteria.
