I either lost my Yonex AT700 racquet or it was stolen. Darn. Great racquet. Now I need a replacement. Suggestions?
Buy a second generation e.g. Calibre sports. Lethal 50/60/70 (and replace the grip so it's more head heavy) may be another option.
You do realize this question gets asked every few months right? There are dozens of threads on the following pages that have answered it already
Odd. I've searched for AT700 and have found very little about current comparable replacement models. Hmm.
Wacomme, I'm in a similar situation. I have two AT700's already and am looking for a racket that has similar playing qualities, as the AT700 is apparently no longer in production in the UK anymore. I contacted Ashaway UK asking the same question and they recommended the Ashaway Viper XT750. I haven't yet purchased one though. Ashaway rackets are very popular at my club so it might be worth a go. www.ashaway.co.uk
No, the NS9900 is an even balanced-head light racket, which is great for doubles. But not for singles. If you want something similar to the AT700, then just get another. You won't find another racket similar. I wouldn't recommend Ashaway rackets, they all are quite poor quality, and tend to feel "hollow" and also they tend to be quite expensive for what they are. the AT700 2nd gen is still in production, and will be for another couple of months, if you like it then you should stock up on it. And anyway there is some good discounts on the 700 at the moment, so it's worth buying. The only thing I would recommend from Ashaway is the Zymax strings.
Since you are in the USA, you probably had a 4U weight AT700. You could have a look at the ARC10 Peter Gade edition as well ...
I don't know if a replacement AT700 would suit my needs best. While I love singles play I spend most of my time playing doubles. I'm wondering if the Apacs combo Lethal 70 & Tantrum 300 would suit my needs for the same cost of one Yonex racquet.
Funny you should mention that Apacs combo. I have the Lethal 60 + Tantrum 200. While both are great sticks, neither have the power of the AT700. Still, if your needs are changing anyway, I think that Apacs combo is probably an excellent idea.
Since most of the people in my club use fake Chinese racquets, it's hard for me to test racquets and know what I need. I liked my AT700, especially for singles play - great smashes. For doubles (the majority of my play), it was ok but seemed a little slow. I also buy so few racquets that I have little information for comparison. Right now I'm leaning towards the Apacs combo deal - Lethal 70 and Tantrum 300 instead of one new AT700. Is this a good move? They're both 3U weights; I don't recall the weight of my lost AT700. I'm also not familiar with main/cross tensions. I usually have BG65 strung at 25. Is 23/26 a comparable string tension (see www.apacscanada.com)?
Agree. I have a Woven7, been using it for singles play for the past 4 years. very happy! Another option worth considering is the Ultra Pro, just released by Panda Power. Of course, the AT700 2nd gen is still available all over the place...
In terms of power ? Yes. The W7 and the Ultra Pro aren't very expensive either, and the AT700 isn't badly priced as well.
