These videos are an amazing find and it settles what I'll be doing in my early morning footwork training for the next few weeks! First and second videos show so much agility and speed and the others show how to build up to the speed seen in the first two videos. Thanks Kwun.
i have done some but not all the patterns in the first video before. definitely helps improve agility as well as speed. will start doing that with my students as well.
It's so easy to get a light sweat doing the Chinese Steps in seconds. I am amazed that the guy chasse all over the court covering all six corners.
im gonna try these before i play, especialy the first 2 hehe they looks good when i went to lincolnshire county trials they made us jog up and down 4 courts a phew times doing differnt steps then we stretched afterward, is this any good for your footwork practice??
Basically, all Footwork exercises are good for Badminton . Basically, all Footwork exercises are good for Badminton, although we should classify what are the main purposes for doing them. There are exercises for; * Building up strength * Building up speed * Building up power * Gaining more agility * Gaining more flexibility * Gaining better tempo * etc, etc, ...... I like Footwork 1 because it's the actual Footwork that I use during a rally. Same steps/movement taken to various court locations. It's actually a 'Badminton Dance'. Doing it with music is even more enjoyable. .
Nice. Some of the exercises don't need a court size area which means I can try them at home (although I have a downstairs neighbour of whom to take consideration).
During the training days as player, my coach would usually dedicate 30-45 mins for warm-up and the exercises in these videos. There are also exercises involving the upper body coordination movements. Good find Kwun!
Footwork is important not only for beginners, i have seen videos that even world class players like Cai yun , Fu haifeng , the ladies players Yu yang still do footworks , in their training.
Errr. I donno about the second video I mean, he move very fast, but it just look awkward... seem like he is rushing at everything instead of keeping a much more "Controlled" steps. If you look at how LCW and LD play, they're pretty calm and in control of their movement... But, who knows, I'm still a rookie when it comes to this sport.
a bit confuse with video footwork1. this is right handed player but he doesnt move his right leg to front when he is in backhand position.
A bit confused with video Footwork 1 . It is best to have the racket foot to the front to allow us to obtain the best (maximum) reach if the shuttlecock is to be hit further away from us. But if the shuttlecock is closer to our bodies, we can play the shot with our non-racket to the front. However, it is best to make it a 'Good habit': Always try to have to racket-foot placed nearer to the net (whether the shot is taken closer to us or not). .
If you haven't got the time to turn and set your right (racket) foot to the front (e.g. when defending against a smash), you move like that. Otherwise, like chris-ccc said, always set your racket foot to the front.
