    CCC CATS at MSAC on Sunday 17-Jul-2011 (A Short Report)

    Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 17-Jul-2011 (A Short Report)

    At this CCC CATS, we worked on Doubles Low Services.

    It's great to welcome 3 new trainees;
    (1) Santoso-L (KeChong's friend)
    (2) Min-W (Wednesday CCC player)
    (3) Timothy-T (Wednesday CCC player)

    Hope that they have enjoyed our coaching.

    Some comments;
    * Helmut-H and Wendy-L have improved greatly; Smoothly pushing the shuttlecock over the net.
    * KeChong-K, Shaoqi-C and Jack-X are using more of their wrists' action than their elbows'.

    Some reminders to how to direct/control our Low Service;
    * Let the thumb of our grip to be used as the main control.
    * Have the racket face shining at the target.
    * To execute longer Services, we need a longer follow-through.
    * Give less time for the Receiver; therefore serve nearer/at the Service Line.
    * etc, etc, ......

    Lunch after our session was held at In 2 Noodles, a Malaysian restaurant at South Melbourne.

    Hi CCCers,

    Please be informed that for our CCC CATS on Sunday 24-Jul-2011, we shall be at our usual time: from 10:00am to 12:00noon, and be located at our usual court: on Court No.4.

    Do always check this info thread regularly. This is because there are so many events happening at MSAC; that we can receive late changes to our CCC CATS program at the very last moment.

    There is a suggestion from helmut telling me that it's best for me to suggest which chapter/topic to teach based on what I find is lacking amongst our trainees.

    In our next session, we shall work on 'Footwork', together with our 'Overhead Forehand Clears'.

    Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 24-Jul-2011 (A Short Report)

    At this CCC CATS, we worked on Footwork, together with our 'Overhead Forehand Clears'.

    Unfortunately, Min-W and Jack-X could not attend, because this lesson was organised for them. :eek::eek::eek:

    Hope that everyone have enjoyed our coaching.

    Some comments;
    * Helmut-H and Wendy-L have improved greatly with their 'control' stroke; the Lift and the Bounce.
    * KeChong-K, Shaoqi-C and Jin Hooi-T are using more 'Follow Through' action now.
    * Santoso-L will need more practice with the 'Singles High Service'.
    * Timothy-T is learning quite fast with the 'Footwork' instruction.

    Some reminders to how to direct/control our Overhead Forehand Clears;
    * Let the index finger of our grip to be used as the main control.
    * Have the racket face shining at the direction we wish to send the shuttlecock.
    * Have our 'Follow Through' more precisely executed.
    * For longer Clears, we need to not have the shuttlecock trajectory going too high.
    * Power comes from all joints in our body, from our ankle up to our wrist.
    * 'Timing' - For this, we need more practice.
    * etc, etc, ......

    Lunch after our session was held at Meetbowl, an Indonesian restaurant at 95 York St, South Melbourne;

    Hi CCCers,

    Please be informed that for our CCC CATS on Sunday 31-Jul-2011, we shall be training at different time: from 11:00am to 1:00pm, and be located: on Court No.17 (at the back of the Table-Tennis Hall).

    This is because MSAC is hosting a Tournament in the main hall on Sunday 31st July from 8.30am until 7pm. (I just found the email from MSAC).

    At this CCC CATS, we worked on Level Doubles – (Players' Positions); to teach trainees 'how to position ourselves when playing Level Doubles'.

    I think everyone have enjoyed this chapter.

    Some comments;
    * Helmut-H, having done this chapter several times, committed no wrong positioning at all.
    * KeChong-K, Jin Hooi-T and Timothy-T are learning quite fast. :):):)
    * Santoso-L will need more practice; to remember to move into correct positions with less hesitation.

    Some reminders;
    * Staying Front And Back is to attack.
    * Staying Side By Side is to defend.
    * The positions we get into, is dependent on where (in space) the shuttlecock is.
    * After a Lift and/or Clear, we need to get into a Square position to defend.
    * Remember how to move into which halves when we Square.
    * Remember our areas of control when in Front And Back and Squre formations.
    * Remember that the 'Partner of the Receiver of the Service has to be as alert as the Receiver'.
    * etc, etc, ......

    I think everyone understand that our tactics depend on our opponents' positions.

    Some comments;

    * Once you Dab, you should expect a Dab return.
    * Move forward half a step as we Dab.
