    I like white the best, silver and yellow feel softer.
    If you use bg80 at 28lbs, I'd string zm70 at 30-31lbs or so. if you string bg65 at 28. then zm70 at 28 should be fine.

    thanks for this, I will try it at 30, and see where it gets me, if it is durable, then I will defienetly try it at 31-32 possibly.

    well guess what.

    i procrastinated. and i am glad i did. after nearly 2 months having the ZM70 sitting on the AT700 after even Janet says it sucks. i took it out again and played it, and it felt TOTALLY different.

    now there is power, there is pop, there is feel, defense was awesome as it is softer feel.

    all the badness is gone.

    and as a result, i am totally lost. what happened? did all the tension loss make the difference?

    it still feel different than ZM62 and ZM67. it is more dull and soft than ZM62, but slightly more solid than ZM67.

    it sounds totally different too. there is a BOOM, but at the same time, there is also a CRACK. my friend says the string sounds like it has snapped everytime i hit.

    Yes, maybe you need lower the tension at the start...but then after awhile the tension will drop.

    Now you see how hard it is for Panda to rate equipment? Especially string because it has to be tried many times at different tension to get a true feel and understanding of the string. :p

    Panda had a similar situation with Victor's VS850. Panda strung the same blue VS850 at 30 and 33lbs. respectively on two T2s both 84.5g, BP290. Initially the 30lbs. one played spot on and the 33lbs. was numb, stiff...too tight. Panda didn't touch the rackets for about 3 weeks and then tried both again and the 30lbs. one played only good at best and the 33lbs. one was spot on!

    Panda suspected that tension was the cause so strung two other T2s at 30 and 33 again, initially, again the 30 was great, 33 a bit too tight, dead feeling. Continued to use them and the 30 got worse and worse while the 33 got better and better. Finally, Panda strung one more at 30 and initially it was great, let the 30 sit for a week and then it was softer, not nearly as good...again.

    Conclusion: For Panda, VS850 is ideal around 29-30lbs. Any lower, it doesn't feel nearly as crisp nor as good. At 33lbs. the string does not flex much and is too stiff. But stringing it at 33 and letting it drop to 29-30, it's ideal. Go figure. :p:p:p

    the racket was originally strung for Janet. she likes stiff racket at 25/26. my regular tension is 24/24 but being a thicker string, i thought it would be ok to be higher tension. (now she took my T2 and really love it. i don't think i am ever getting it back :( )

    most strings just get looser while the overall feel are the same. the interesting part is how this ZM70 is that it went from really liveless, dead, powerless, to something completely opposite.

    No worries, Panda has more and just wait for the new PRECISION, she may like even more. :p:D

    Well, for Panda, ZM70 only plays OK at lower tension but at 31-33lbs. it's excellent. Yes, everyone is different. :)

    What was the durability of VS850, at 30-33lbs, or did you cut it out before it snapped ?
    And the durability of ZM70, what's that like ?

    Durability: ZM70 is on par with BG65, maybe even a tad bit better.

    VS850 at 30-33lbs. has been durable so far. Haven't broken one yet but also haven't been using it much because testing many rackets with many different strings.

    my latest ZM62 @ 21.5/21.5lbs on my ARC10 has lasted surprisingly long. more than a month of pretty hard playing. even at that relatively low tension (but equiv to bg80@24lbs) it has provided good power and touch. i think i might have found a good combination for this string.

    but i am sure now that i posted it, it will snap on a service.

    It's good to know that there are other people using tensions less than that of a suspension bridge cable.
    But is Zymax-62 at 21.5lbs really the same as BG-80 at 24lbs for you?:confused:

    Personally, I don't tension above 23lbs with BG-80/85 or Micropower. I lose power. Yet I haven't had any problem with Z62 at 23lbs. So can this thin-gauge tension-relevance thing be true? Maybe for touch and not for power?

    i am going by my recent experimental results on string tone. i have been recording the resulting vibration tone of different strings on different rackets. the ZM62 @ 21.5lbs ends up something like 1135Hz, and BG80@25lbs (not 24lbs) is around 1137. the feel of the string is as stiff. of course, at the point, i am just comparing with my best knowledge. no different strings will ever be the "same" as different tension. however, the stiffness do feel very similar by feel.

    Nice post Sir! This Panda agrees 100%.

    For instance, for Panda to get the approximate same string bed feel/stiffness among the different strings, Panda would string at the following:

    ZM62 = 27lbs.
    NBG98 = 28.5lbs.
    BG66 = 29lbs.
    BG80 = 29lbs.
    BG85 = 30lbs.
    MP = 30lbs.
    VS-850 = 30lbs.
    Mizuno ML-70S = 31lbs.
    ZM67 = 31lbs.
    ZM70 = 31lbs.
    NBP95 = 31lbs.
    BG70Pro = 31lbs
    BG65 = 32lbs.
    PG65 = 33lbs.

    So to put the extremes into perspective, if Panda strings ZM62 @ 27lbs., to get a similar string bed stiffness, he'd have to string PG65 (Ashaway Power Gut 65) at 33lbs., a 6lbs. difference!

    Just a quick question; do the listed strings have a "workable" durability for you, compared to BG65 at 32lbs? :D

    Oh and is the durability of ZM70 similar to BG65, at your specified tension?

    So is there a reason why you would not pre-stretch and then just string at 30 lbs?

    In general the thicker string still last longer but the thinner string almost always plays better.

    Panda always does a pre-stretch of 10% except when stringing at a specific string's limit.

    how do you test the string bed stiffness?

    by playing with it?

    btw, how many strokes did the zm62 @ 27lbs last?

    1) Yes, by playing with all the different strings, experimenting at different tensions, many times.

    2) If you mishit a lot, Panda would not recommended thin string unless you love the feel and don't mind paying.

    But if you are accurate and don't mishit much, then thin string is the way to go, as the ultimate feel cannot be matched by thick string (all else equal).

    As for ZM62@27lbs. for Panda., it holds up fine unless Panda mishits. Recently Panda has been very accurate (compared to himself) and not broken string much at all. For example, Panda used to break 20+ strings a month. Now maybe 3-4 a month. All this from hitting much more accurately...and OK, much less smashing. :p

    That would mean that the VS850 will stretch by about 10% after it has been pre-stretched by 10%, right?

    No, pre-stretch doesn't have anything to do with the potential or ultimate stretch (elasticity) of the string.

    Pre-stretching is used to help minimize the slack/creep of the string which translates into tension loss after stringing.
