Sigh....as feared, Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir lost yet again to a new pair, this time Zheng Bo/Ma Jin. The coaches really need to consider splitting them and pairing Liliyana with either Mohd Rijal or Fran Kurniawan for a more potent combi.

As for Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati, they lost to the senior KOR pair Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung. No shame in that as they reach their QF target.

Taufik Hidayat also did his best in stretching Lee Chong Wei to the limit (3-sets) and close scores till the very end. Good luck to him in the India Open where he will probably meet Lee again in the Final.

Watched the match on livestream last night. The World Champs didn't lose on Zheng Bo's power, they were caught off-guard by well-disguised dropshot placements. The body language didn't show confidence. I would have expected Lily to teach Ma Jin a thing or two about frontcourt dominance.

Really, Some said TH's stamina is suspected, but seems like its not true with those hard smashes for a duration of 1.06 hours.......TH still looks fit....:p

The stamina thing has not been a problem for quite a while now I think. He's been frequently stretched to three sets, and won many of them too.

lots of his smashes in the 2nd set seems not accurate and hard enough.
he seems to conserve some energy for the 3rd set..it looks like that.
again, i can see so many dots all over all post:D

Haha, thanks george for your alcoholic beverages. I'm sure you enjoyed them, maybe to excess. I had to run out after the 1st game. By the time I got back, the TH v LCW match was over. Sounded like a lot of tension in the rubber. Glad you survived to see another day. :)

    Hmm..

..should read kwun's take on the TH vs. LCW's QF match in the "Taufik Hidayat at the 2009 Swiss Open" thread..;)

    Looks like..

..the Singles matches dominated this thread, esp. the WYH vs. ZM's & TH vs. LCW's matches...
..one of the rarest moments for George to log in and join BC. Usually you'd already be sitting in front of your telly watching your fave MS player..;)
..they forgot to steam the shuttles..;)
..yeah, and it doesn't get any harder for PiHY starting in the Semifinals, does it??..;)
..i'm wondering, is the service judge the same size & height as WYH??..
..anyone else noticed Gill Clark has been partnering with Larsen for the broadcast, at least during the recently ended AE??..is this temporary??..
