kklam and Matt, is it possible for you to get Taufik's autograph for me? I tried to approach Taufik, but he was swarmed by the crowd and he had to hurry off.
Thank you. I left work quickly but was too late for the Aberdeen center autograph session last Friday. The shows were terrific! I hope they come again to Richmond.
Yeah . Taufik was surrounded by a crowd that formed less than 2 meter radius, and with cameras and cellphone cameras flashing around his upper hemisphere. If I were him, I want to escape too. He couldn't do a complete autograph for some people. One of the persons passed by me spoke that his autograph looked like a scribble.
After the presentation ceremony, the players had an autograph session. That took a while. After that they went down to the locker room and signed what seemed to be countless programs, bags, ticket stubs, signage and more. Wouldn't be surprised if their signatures resembled squiggles towards the end. There was a lot of stuff to be signed! A few of us headed off to Ellie to have dinner with Hauge and RichmondPro boss Richard generously covered the meal.
I would like to thank Hauge for generously and tirelessly finding tickets for our badminton fans, none of whom he knew. Between his busy player management and language translation duties, we managed to sit down for a couple of cold ones. Will get some pics up tomorrow (hopefully)–I have a few hundred to go through. In the meantime, anyone else who has pics please post them. Thanks.
^^And..^^ ..Hau-ge will tirelessly take-off directly from BC (CAN), for another non-stop, long trip back to Asia.. ..thank you, George, for the links (love the side angle capture and the "oohs and aahs" from the crowd) ..appreciate for snapping and sharing the pics with us, MSN04! Btw, was that you, shown in the first video, above, sitting on the court side (near side), wearing a white tees and using a 70-200mm Canon zoom lens??.. ..he did & lost to Andre. Check previous page, post #186 by Hau-ge. ..they probably could've asked Hau-ge to sign the items and goodies on behalf of Taufik and Joachim. I mean, it's not like the people receiving those goodies will check who actually signed the items, would they??.. Yes, pics of the mini dinner get-together, please...
Yep...too many things to sign including stubs,etc...Joachim joked that I should help him sign.......Taufik took off on midnite...andre and andrew will go to Calgary tomorrow morning and Joachim will leave on this afternoon....
wow, got a player's autograph in the locker room? darn, i wish i could do that too during the malaysia open
I saw Mike Beamish, Vancouver Sun sports reporter, ask Andrew Debeka for an interview yesterday. A quick google later, this was the report in the Sun: http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Badminton+Racket+mania+takes+over+Richmond+Oval/1467599/story.html Accurate? Comments from those who attended welcome.
