Was it a clean install of the OS or overlap install of the OS when you say, reinstall the OS?

I share your skepticism in this - IRQ_NON_LESS_THAN_EQUAL errors are certainly hardware in origin - I doubt reinstalling the OS, be it overlapping or new will solve the problem.

What causes a computer to auto shut down/restart?

darn, another problem occurs in my pc again.
Recently, my computer will auto shut down when i boot my computer for a while. But sometimes the computer will auto shut down it after some times.
The weird thing is, the computer will restart by itself all of a sudden:eek: Sometimes, the computer have some difficulties to boot too though..and then sometimes my computer is ok and lasts for quite a long time like normal untill it auto shut down on a certain time:rolleyes::(..No idea what's wrong. anyone encountered this problem before? is there a setting that allow the pc to auto shut down by itself? What causes it actualy?

actually i went to the computer shop last week, the fella said it could be maybe due to my extension i'm using. So, i decided to go home and change to extension that i'm using to a new one. After changing it, i have a feeling that its ok already.. after some time, the same problem still occur. I wonder what is wrong...hmm..

anyone can help? right now of course the pc is ok..:p:)

what comes to my mind, check for virus or all those malicious stuffs..

    second, PC might be overheating.

    third, check faulty ram module.

EDIT: also maybe, go to system administrative then check the event log.

george@chongwei : If you can, take a screw driver and remove one of the panels of the side of your PC case if possible. Check to see if there's dust.

Please remember to plug in your power cable from the CPU unit to the wall socket BUT MAKE SURE THE WALL SOCKET MAINS is SWITCHED OFF. This is to help ground the PC, so no static and stuff.

IF there's lots of dust could be problems to over heating. A good vacuum is good once in a while. Clean the CPU cooling fans if you can and any case fans.

As for the processor, you need only to unclip the fan off and clean the accumulated dirt off the surface, no need to take the whole heat sink off - not recommended unless you have thermal paste and the patience to carefully slot the thing back.

    When poking around...

Make sure you poke around very gingerly in your PC when vacuming as you may break something. Normally the CPU fan is the culprit and gets very clog up. I know by experience as I had similar issues with my old PC also. So only vacum the CPU fan. Don't press down on the fan when vacuming just glide the vacum head over the fan. The fan should start spinning when you do this so it helps to draw out the dust. I suspect in your CPU fan, dust may have clag up (dust plus moisture makes a paste) if you are in a very humid country so it may not be as easy to get the dust out. In this case not sure if vacuming will help.
Also PC powering down could be cause by failing PSU (power supply) or if you have added new components to your PC the PSU may not have enough juice now to power up your PC's component.
BTW is this the same PC you had problems with last year or so...If so time for a new one.....:D

yes id defragment your drives george. I use a program called diskeeper i think. And defragment my computer at least once per month. It sorts all your files out and keeps everything in order so it takes lesss time for your computer to find something when you click on it!!!

It could also be hardware problems. How old is your PC equipment? Things do tend to die without warning@!
