Like I said, it happens everywhere. The difference is it's not reported. So if it's disgrace for Paris, it's the same for K.L., Bangkok, London, L.A., Vancouver... anywhere.
Actually, for those who's traveled to Europe (esp Barcelona, Paris, Milan, Madrid and Rome), they should know the pickpockets are well known in those cities. But I'm suprised that it happened inside a hotel room... I hope the police or IBF will do something about it... sorry to hear this
Sure, you can dismissed it as to say it can happen anywhere but the fact is it did happen in Paris in a 5-star hotel and that does not speak well for France. I feel sorry for Salakjit, as I sure do not pray for this kind of crap to happen to anyone.
Nobody likes this to happen to anybody. And yes I do feel sorry for the Ponsanas. It's just that it happened to a name we are familiar with in the badminton community that perked our interest. If the exact same thing happened to my sister, you wouldn't give a damn. That's because you don't know her.
Believe me the police won't do anything for this kinda problem.... Also, now that I read all these reports, I wonder in what kinda hotel they are, and overall who choose that...
Difference is : it happened inside the hotel room, not somewhere on the street. You'll be surprised too if you lost something inside your locked hotel room. Not just to 1 player but a group, means whoever it is, targetted the players. The official hotel for this WC is going to have a bad name after this If it happened in the other tournament venues, for sure the media will report, they have ways of digging for news.
Even though theft can happen anywhere, Paris is particularly notorious. I am not surprised at all. All travellers should be careful.
SIGH! You guys don't think hotel room thefts occur elsewhere? Open your eyes; it's a big world out there. I'm gonna leave this one alone.
Aiyoo, not saying it doesnt but it's part of the hotel's responsibility to ensure security & safety, 5 star hotel normally take this issue very seriously. Incidents like this can damage a hotel's image tremendously. I used to work in hotel line, so, I'm shocked it can happen to so many at same time.
That is not true...if it happens to your sister or to you and if it is brought to our attention, we would feel the same for you and pray for justice to be on your side...Maybe if your sister or you is super rich, then that is one thing you may be able to take the financial hit, still it is not right though. These baddy players don't make a lot of money, I really hate low life who prey and target on people. Many a times, I read the Star newspaper publishing crime, I feel for those people too, and those low lifes who so deservedly of the punishment of the malaysian govt.
what a thread, still 3 hours to go and already 4 pages regarding the chinese team - buddy they are not the enemies! just the opponents are all working hard on the mission we want to watch them in all SS tournaments! so for now the task is to avoid the 3 titles - still a hard way, but not impossible
If all matches average an hour long, the timing will be perfect for a 4pm start for the second session
regardless of whether this happens in other cities, i feel sorry for Salakjit. 2000 Euros is a lot of money, esp for someone from Thailand. i was told by my friend that engineer salary is around US$1000/month.
