Also known to strike anger and vengeance as well for a backfire effect =p If we're talking doubles, and your rear court movement to the flick serve is pretty good, standing right on the serve line to receive is one of the best ways to intimidate. I don't play much singles so unfortunately I can't offer very good advice there.
Alas, Canti, that only half works. I have seen people act awesome because they have a Yonex kit but get owned because they lack skill. Its more intimidating when someone toys with you. Mentally that is.
Do smash and attacking clear a lot. Opponent will take a step back or at least will not dare to position closer to the net. When fear is placed on opponent then they will be easier to fall for deceptive shot such as faked smash but actually we play drop instead.
Anything your opponent can do, you can do better . It's not you that will intimidate your opponent, it's your skill. Improve your skill to a degree like; 'Anything your opponent can do, you can do better'. .
I remember reading somewhere that you could tell how good a player is by the length of their shorts. Beginners wear tracksuit pants; intermediates wear baggy shorts; experts wear tight little shorts. So by extension, if you are wearing speedos, opponents will assume you are very, very good and will be intimidated (if not a little distracted).
This is a good idea. But if you're not from NZ (and maybe even if you are) then you have to learn it first
. That was years ago when experts wear tight little shorts. Today, we find BWF tournament mens players wearing longer shorts. .
Shoot, I must really suck because I wear baggy shorts (not basketball baggy though, can't pass for a teenager anymore) under trackpants....
I wore a REALLY baggy basketball top , it was so long that when I started to sweat it was restricting movement :-(... I must be really bad...
STARING is really intimidating... Stare at your opponent when he looses points because of his negetives.. That will make him produce a lot more like that... For example, if he clears and you know that its going out, dont move to pick the shuttle immediately, stare at him for a while then turn back to get the shuttle. Making EYE contact is vital.
